After the team’s 7-6 record last season, he has little margin for error this season. With numerous questions on offense and the shuffling of his defensive staff, every move is critical if Michigan hopes to compete for the Big Ten title this season.
Michigan returns to the practice field eager to forget the memories of last season’s disastrous collapse. With outside temperatures in the low single digits, the team practiced in their massive indoor practice facility, shielded from the bitter wind chill outside and any prying eyes hoping to get a glimpse of the workouts.
As Hoke enters his fourth season in Ann Arbor, he’s under pressure to beat rivals Michigan State and Ohio State—which battled for the Big Ten championship last season—while Michigan lurked in the Legends division cellar.
Preparation for winning the Big Ten starts with spring practice, and these are the players to watch.
The team captains for this season have been named.
University of Michigan football head coach Brady Hoke announced Sunday (Aug. 25) that seniors Taylor Lewan (Cave Creek, Ariz./Chaparral), Courtney Avery (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) and Cam Gordon(Detroit, Mich./Inkster) and senior/junior Jake Ryan (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) have been elected captains of the 2013 football team by a vote of their teammates.
It marks the third time in Michigan Football history the team will have four captains.
No big surprises here. I thought there might be chance of QB Devin Gardner or RB Fitz Toussaint being named to have the offense and defense be equally represented.
The defense continues to be the story of fall camp.
