Michigan coach Brady Hoke did his best to play polite visitor as his team arrived in Arizona for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
“We are very excited about being in the desert.”
Excited was the word of the day as Hoke addressed the media.
Excited to be in Arizona, excited for West Coast-based Michigan alums to be able to see their team, excited about playing Kansas State. Excited, excited—while looking anything but.
The truth was written all over his face.

Someday when Jim Harbaugh finishes in the NFL, I believe that he will return to the collegiate ranks. The NFL may be the highest level of football competition, but coaches have the greatest impact on their players at the collegiate level. It probably won’t be at Michigan, but Harbaugh is a “Michigan Man” and someday he will inspire people just as he was inspired by Schembechler.

With starting quarterback Devin Gardner’s status for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in doubt because of injury, backup Shane Morris is taking most repetitions in practice. Morris is being prepared to lead the Michigan offense if Gardner, who was injured last month against Ohio State, is not available for the game.

Hoke says that team is playing this game “…for his seniors,” but after two consecutive disappointing seasons and increased criticism of his coaching staff, there’s a lot riding on this game.
