Fans hope that this recruiting class will fill key gaps in Michigan’s roster and propel the team past a disappointing 7-6 campaign where it dropped five out of its final six games and was swept by rivals Ohio State and Michigan State.
Michigan finished 7-6, 3-5 Big Ten Conference, resulting in offensive coordinator Al Borges being fired and replaced with Doug Nussmeier from Alabama. Borges paid the price for the team’s epic fall from Big Ten title contender to the depths of the Legends Division.
The dismissal of Borges will lead to a new look for the Michigan offense which struggled mightily behind an offensive line that was shuffled for practically every game.

Michigan’s home opener is a classic no-win game; win big and people will question why the game was scheduled, win by a comfortable margin and critics will wonder why the margin of victory wasn’t larger, lose and it could cost Brady Hoke his job.
But an evaluation of Hoke’s record at Michigan seems to tell a different story. With a 15-11 record over the last two years, two consecutive bowl losses and a 2-4 record versus Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Michigan State, questions about Hoke’s status are legitimate.
Nussmeier has a challenge ahead of him as he takes over as offensive coordinator for a team that limped to a 7-6 final record after entering November as a Big Ten title contender. With national signing day approaching and spring practice bearing down, Hoke has some important issues to tackle.
