Accountability goes both ways. Gardner has put his body and soul on the line for Michigan this season and paid a heavy price. After hearing him speak with the media following the Iowa and Ohio State games, he obviously holds himself accountable for Michigan’s losses.

But for Michigan to beat Ohio State and Michigan State next season, he needs to improve his game and start demanding the same accountability from his coaches.

You won’t hear anyone on the Michigan Wolverines say it, but nobody is all that happy about playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Dreams of playing in the Rose Bowl evaporated in the midst of a 1-4 collapse that left the team in the depths of the Big Ten Legends Division.

To make matters worse, rivals Ohio State and Michigan State, who met in the Big Ten Championship Game, are both ranked in the top ten nationally while Michigan exited the rankings during its epic November collapse.

Brandon realizes that no matter how many facilities he builds or how much money pours into the athletic department, his legacy will be determined by the success or failure of Brady Hoke.

His predecessor Bill Martin rebuilt the athletic campus, but he is remembered with disdain for the failure of Rich Rodriguez.

Next season, Michigan needs to end November competing for Big Ten title. Brandon—and Hoke’s legacy—depends on it.
