CONFIRMED Harbaugh signs 5yr extension

Per Chris Balas and a few others, Rumors going around that it will be announced early next week. 3 years no money or buyout announced other than it's a done deal.

What are people's thoughts now that it seems to be a done deal? Harbaugh has at least 1-2 more years to turn things around. or Warde Manuel goes with him if he fails.

If this is true, fine. But some things HAVE to change:

1. Brown has to go. It was fun while it lasted but geez.

2. Gattis should go as well. The Harbaugh Spread isn’t working. Go back to what Jim knows-West Coast.

3. Stop focusing so much on recruiting the northwest and shift the focus to MI, OH, PA, and Chicago. The Midwest should be the foundation then see if you can add from the south.

4. I need energy. From the coaches, and fro the players. Our sideline looks dead. We are just going through the motion. I want intensity, and I want the players to be having fun!

Agree with Brown and Gattis. Would also like to see the offense open up more with less predicted runs into a 7-8 man box. Agree also with having more fun within the coaches and players.

100% happy w/ this and not just because it will cause fits w/ the crowd who thinks coaching changes are as easy as a finger snap. BUT there absolutely must be a post-mordem done on this season to determine what when wrong, when, why, and how it isn't going to happen again. I've read rumors over the last couple years that JH and Brown were at odds. If that's the case, I don't know why the latter wasn't sent packing sooner. What's the plan to get the D back to elite, and what is going to improve the offense. You don't have to scrap everything to run some RPO, but you also don't need to be strictly a spread offense to take advantage of a QB who can pass and run.
There has to be a plan for a season like this one to NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

Mike Florio says from “unnamed, unknown, unidentified” sources?!?! It’s simply not true. Teams doing “their homework” on Harbaugh is not the same as Harbaugh eying an NFL return.

Warde said they will talk contract extension after the season, however, the early signing period (starts Dec. 16) is before the season ends. My opinion is announce something before then so we don't lose any commits and can work on the uncommitted players i.e. Donovan Edwards, etc.

The writer here seems to think if JH had signed the contract this really wouldn't be news, so the only reason he hasn't signed is because he's entertaining other offers.

I like the idea that this deal is supposedly for less money than what Harbaugh is now getting paid. He is not worthy of being the 4th highest paid coach in CFB. I also like the fact that the contract appears to be incentive laden. Maybe this will re-light the fire under Harbaugh's ass instead of just watching him get complacent while he continues to feast off of his current fat contract. Lastly, I also like how it appears there will still be good money for Harbaugh to be able to replace most/all of his current staff. Top of the list in my book would be Brown, Gattis and his son!!!

Of course, it would not surprise me in the least to see Harbaugh use the offer as leverage and take this opportunity to make the jump back to the NFL...

Not sure if this is the right thread. Donovan Edwards, #4 running back in the country is announcing decision next Wed. Dec 16. Said he has a strong relationship with Jay Harbaugh. With the uncertainty of the contract, my gut feel is he goes to PSU or Oklahoma.

If there’s a team to worry about with Edwards, it’s Notre Dame and Oklahoma. All the crystal balls point towards Michigan but with the coaching uncertainty, it’s down to Michigan and Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

Two things I’m most concerned about with the staff: 1. Player development. 2. Identifying the best players at each position. It was abundantly clear Haskins was our best RB this year and yet it took like 4 games before he got the bulk of the carries!
