Position coaches come and go every year. I can see being upset if a coordinator or HC goes, or the scheme is about to radically change. Should coaches tell kids, maybe but I don't think it's as big a deal as it's suddenly being made out to be.
This is no different than Harbaugh signing the other RB, but telling Mike he was the only RB they were recruiting.
Except this isn't true. They told Weber they were only taking one RB, NOT that he was the only RB they were recruiting. Weber was well aware that Michigan was recruiting Higdon.
I've heard that they are considering banning OSU from recruiting Cass Tech. It might help the relationship if they let him out of his LOI.
Unfortunately, Wilcher and CT need Ohio State a lot more than Ohio State needs Wilcher and CT.
Please enlighten me on how any high school program in Michigan needs Ohio St. Schools from all over the country are recruiting Cass Tech kids.
For the same reason Ted Ginn needs Michigan more than Michigan needs Ted Ginn. It's called doing the right thing for your kids and making sure they get every opportunity available to them in this world. Read or listen to what Wilcher has said about OSU recruiting at CT. He absolutely loves it. He says OSU had no presence at CT until Urbz came to town and his job is to make sure his kids are presented with every opportunity. He wants more schools involved, not less.

The thing is HE (Drayton) was the guy Urban Meyer used to convince Weber to stay. Weber was changing his mind and was going to come to Michigan. He sold him on the idea that HE could get Weber to the next level as a running back. But HE won't be able to do that if HE is in Chicago coaching the Bears.
Again, that's absurd. Urbz told Weber that Ohio State would do that for him, not his positional coach. We have a better RB coach than Ohio State by far and Weber, Wilcher, and everyone who has ever watched the game knows that.
No, Urban Meyer was NOT the one on the phone with him telling him that. It was Drayton. And he is not normally a recruiter for the Detroit area. It was because he was the position coach that he was used in Weber's recruitment. So I'm not buying your story.

False. You can either trust what Weber said, or what Sam Webb has finally come clean about. I don't even think it's premium anymore, because he had to spill the beans publicly.
True blue apparently knows everything and his opinions are the only correct ones... Ohio State played Weber and he took it on the chin. Not even close to a decent comparison between our QB situation.

As if Josh Alabi, and Mike Weber couldn't have had great opportunities at Michigan or elsewhere. I'm still not finding the NEED that Cass Tech has for OSU.
It's not that I care about whether or not this kid plays at OSU or not, I just wish this story would go to ESPN. Any bad publicity for Urban Meyer is good publicity...but of course his buddies at OSU will probably try to hide this.
We all know Urban's an a-hole, but he's not stupid. My guess is that with Harbaugh and Wheatley in the fold, he knew he wouldn't be pulling Cass Tech kids anyway. He won the battle and bailed on the war.

I saw it on College Football Live yesterday. Urban Meyer was blasted on it. After Jim Harbaugh's response today, I think we'll be hearing quite a bit more about this.
You know what would heat up the rivalry? Not getting our asses kicked every Saturday, including the Saturday after Turkey Day! Let's start there...
Go Blue!!
I don't disagree with you. We've had some bad teams and have still come close to doing just that. But we also need to beat them on the recruiting trail every now and then so that we're not outmatched talent-wise every time we hit the field.
I've grown tired of turning the tv on sat mornings and wondering if we "could just keep it close with Minnesota, Indiana, NW, Akron, u conn" ....... I want harbaugh to have a big mouth, not apologizing for beating a tent stake into the field, or sky writing over moo u. F them both!

Ohio State has hired Notre Dame assistant Tony Alford to its staff to replace departed running backs coach Stan Drayton, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.
Alford, who was the Fighting Irish's running backs coach and recruiting coordinator, told Scout.com that he will be the Buckeyes' assistant head coach and running backs coach.
I believe Weber has a good relationship with Alford so this might soften the blow...
After reading what Weber's parents posted over the weekend, I don't believe for one second that Weber was coming to Michigan. Despite what Sam Webb and Wilcher have said, I think it was, and continues to be, a big smoke screen.

After seeing stuff that people from both schools were saying to him on Twitter, I'd say he probably doesn't feel comfortable at either school now
