Was a rumor going around that RR used to call this dude peckerhead....well, if he did what was alledged, that is WAAAAAAAAY more polite than what I think of him
It happened at my nephews fraternity though Gibbons was not in the frat. He told me about the accusation at Thanksgiving of that year. This does not suprise me in the least.
Bad news all the way around and Gibbons isn't the only player involved in the story, though the only one accused of sexual misconduct. Taylor Lewan was formally repermanded for harassing the girl after the fact by campus police.
What is this OIE group? Freak in university SS? their burden of proof is their own opinion on case "facts" that aren't enough to warrant police charges? (Real charges) I sure he's guilty of something along with that scumbag Lewan. But this whole "private investigation" doesn't seem right to me at all.
So there's enough evidence for them to believe "it was more likely to have happened, than not" but the real cops aren't sniffing out FELONY SEX CHARGES?
These are very serious accusations, as are any sex crimes IMO.
Since the university operates separate from the criminal justice system, one could argue that perhaps there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute, but the school felt like there was enough circumstantial evidence to wash their hands of this mess.
I'm all for presumed innocent until proven guilty and everybody deserves their day in court but you don't get booted just because. Something happened which makes this guy a scumbag. But in typical Michigan style, they call it "separated" from the University. How freakin' stupid.
Accused and never charged...very similar to the Winston deal this year. Absolutely terrible it took 4 years to come to light...but every Mich fan knew of this (and Lewan's involvement) back when it happened. I was never a Gibbons fan and always thought RichRod should have kicked him off the team.
If he did do what is alleged, it makes his post-game comments about picturing a brunette all the more creepier.
I thought the same exact thing! I mean what if it was a direct shot at the girl, ya know? That would be sick and a true sociopathic behavior..........[:@]
Considering it was Hoke who said picture brunette girls because he (Hoke) thinks they are pretty I doubt very much it had anything to do with this.
This is probably very much like the Winston case and I'm sure privacy laws prevented Hoke from discussing any of it, hence the "family issues" statement. And there is no way the university tried to cover this up, they aren't going to try to protect a freshmen kicker who couldn't make a 30 yarded to save his life.
The more I think about this, the more suspicious I get. Why is no major media taking this story and running with it? I can't believe, drew sharp, at least isn't going to blow this thing up.

Because there were no CRIMINAL charges filed. Again, the criteria to get kicked out of school is a lot less then finding proof of a crime. You know it would end up he said she said. She was drunk etc. it's unfortunate but true. That's why I am reaching my son to be respectful and not to take advantage of people
At best we know Hoke lied about why Gibbons didn't make the bowl trip. The fact that Gibbons was dismissed is running on birth Mlive and ESPN (citing the Michigan daily). It's not so crazy to believe that the "Michigan media" was scooped. They’ve been treating the athletic department with kid gloves since Hoke took over. This story was out there, the pieces were available. No one got up and ran with it, except the students at the Michigan Daily. As I said back in August, it's hard to fake police reports, it's hard to fake University memos and reports, it's hard to fake mugshots.
The fact that the University waited until both Gibbon's and Lewan's eligibility were up before taking action reeks of a coverup. Now that may not be the case but that's the scent the story gives off.
The University in 2011 agreed to change their rules with regards to how they handle sexual misconduct cases...and the new rules did not take effect until August of 2013. Before the new rules came into effect, the university only investigated if the victim of said misconduct elected to move forward.
should there be a statute of limitations on that? Seems kinda ridiculous to expel a student for something that he allegedly did 4 years prior to a rule being placed in effect
Comments
We discussed it back in August

When I see this stuff, we are no better than OSU or any other program.

Something smells really bad............
