2016 QB Targets

Top targets:
1. KJ Costello ([link=http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2189915/highlights/184258390/v2)-]http://www.hudl.com/athle...hlights/184258390/v2)-[/link] Costello has been the #1 target for this coaching staff since they have arrived in January. A target under Hoke's staff as well, Costello visited during the summer of '14 and according to 24/7 nearly committed at the time. Since then he has focused primarily on Stanford and USC with Michigan re-entering the race upon Harbaugh's arrival. His film shows a big, athletic QB who stands tall in the pocket and can make all of the throws. Throwing motion is very refined and he displays great pocket awareness. Very strong arm that can throw guys open. Plays in a shotgun based offense but has shown the ability to take deep drops and execute play action from under center. Will not be much of a runner at the next level, but shows enough athleticism to keep plays alive.
Strengths: arm strength, pocket presence, size
Weaknesses: athleticism

2. Jacob Eason ([link=http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2018903/highlights/207810392/v2)-]http://www.hudl.com/athle...hlights/207810392/v2)-[/link] Georgia commit that the new coaching staff has pursued. Has not been to campus yet. Consensus #1 QB in the class. Yet to be seen if he will look around at all with Mike Bobo leaving UGA. Very similar prospect to Costello, but separates himself with pinpoint accuracy. Some would refer to him as a gunslinger because he throws into tight windows a lot, but most of those throws are not the bad decisions that typically accompany the gunslinger title. Anticipation and progression cycling are advanced for his age. Will not be a runner at the next level.
Strengths: accuracy, anticipation
Weaknesses: decision making, athleticism

3. Brandon Peters ([link=http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1434351/highlights/195326382/v2)-]http://www.hudl.com/athle...hlights/195326382/v2)-[/link] Indiana prospect that has seen his stock rise significantly as of late. Pretty much a consensus top 5 PP across all sites. He will visit Michigan for the spring game. Probably the most likely at the top of the board to end up in the class. Taller prospect than Eason. Not nearly as refined as Costello or Eason. You can tell that he has not done a ton of work with quarterback coaches as the former prospects when you pop on the film. Has a longer delivery than both of the other process but can still make all the throws at the high school level. More touch than the top two, but he doesn't make the "wow" throws as often. With great coaching he has a tremendous ceiling.
Strengths: size, accuracy
Weaknesses: arm strength, delivery

Note: Will extend this board after the spring game, if necessary. [;)]

Note 2: Strengths and weaknesses are evaluated for next level skill translations.
Stay tuned for 2016 RB targets moving forward.

    RS JR- O'Korn
    RS SO- Speight
    RS FR- Malzone, Gentry
