I have been pretty solid for the better part of the last 45-60 days that JH was going to replace BH as the next Michigan HC. With that said, I am more than a little concerned that to seal the deal it is taking UM brass and the search firm to travel to CA and have a sit down with him. Still crossing my fingers…...

Pretty sure this is just for appearances if it's happening at all.
Objectively speaking, there has been no other real candidate leaked and seemingly no movement on the coaching front since BH was let go 25 days ago. This would not be the case if Jimmy was still undecided, at least in my estimation. If there is still some indecision then it's possible he could say no and they would be starting the search all over again in a couple days. Pretty sure they learned from the past that that is not the way to operate. You only put all your eggs in one basket if you already own the eggs.

What makes you think they're doing that to "seal the deal"?

What other reason would the brass at Michigan and the recruiting firm it hired for a coaching search be traveling out to the Bay area? Big fans of Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl or maybe they are just chomping at the bit to watch the Niners lose a meaningless game. Thoughts?
Sorry but I've been confident in Harbaugh for 62.5 days, lol. Honestly all along I've prayed he would come, at first I didn't think it would happen. However the longer this has gone on I've slowly started to think it's a good possibility. Can't imagine they would stick with him if he was still undecided.
Sorry guys, my crystal ball is broken, im just hoping and praying for a press conference Monday or Tuesday with Harbaugh standing in front of the UM backdrop giving one hell of a speach, and then getting straight to work stealing some recruits !
Im going to edit this in the name of some Jim Harbaugh to lighten up the mood. Hope you guys find this as funny as I did!
Based upon everything I've heard in the last couple of weeks, I'd be completely shocked if Jimmy didn't come home. A couple more days and the dream becomes a reality!
It will be fun to see the team evolve back into the Michigan Wolverines we are proud of.
At this point, the only folks that are stoking the "maybe" stories that Harbaugh is not coming are those NFL reporters trying in vain to save face for all of there guarantees that this woiuld never happen.
Three more days, and this will no longer be an issue; and the clown NFL writers can go take a well needed shower to wash all of that egg off of their faces.
From Bay Area KGO-TV News 7: "Friday night, the unconfirmed reports began surfacing that Harbaugh will meet with representatives from the University of Michigan and one source says that a deal is already done."
So let me get this straight, Jim Harbaugh to Ann Arbor (supposedly), Pistons release Josh Smith, and the Lions are in the playoffs, is this the best Christmas for Michigan sports or is doomsday ahead of us?

Hmmmm, maybe, just maybe, they're there to pick him up after the game tomorrow?
As Anthony Carter gathered with his former teammates in Florida on Nov. 29, they were facing reality.
Gathering to watch the Michigan-Ohio State game, they shared one of the most disappointing seasons in modern U-M history winding down.
So they reached out to a Michigan hero of Ohio State games past and reminded Jim Harbaugh how much he meant to them, and U-M.
Putting Harbaugh on speakerphone, the group reminisced.
"We just basically talked about old times," Carter, a three-time All-America receiver who played at U-M from 1979 to 1982, recalled this week. "What it is for me, talking about old times. It wasn't so much about coming and joining Michigan football because we know he's the football coach for the San Francisco 49ers … But he knows deep down inside that former players want him to come back.
"It let him know that everybody followed the university and still cared about the university as well."
Michigan still employed coach Brady Hoke for a few days, eventually firing him Dec. 2, but even during that Ohio State game, the end was near.
Once Hoke was gone, there was no more dancing around the Harbaugh issue.
Over the past few weeks, the Michigan football family has executed a full-court press to bring the 49ers coach back to Ann Arbor.
Through a series of phone calls, text messages and e-mails, dozens of former U-M football players have reached out to Harbaugh over the past few weeks — some who know him personally, many sharing only the bond of playing at Michigan — trying to sway him.
Nothing about U-M's pursuit has been normal, so throwing in a bevy of additional voices simply fits that pattern. Rarely do so many former players at a school focus on and seek out a candidate.
"I called his cell phone last week and let him know I/we need him to come back and turn this program around," said Billy Taylor, Michigan's All-Big Ten running back in 1969-71.
Harbaugh and Taylor don't speak regularly but have known each other for years. They exchanged texts, with Harbaugh appreciating the sentiment.
The contacts have spanned the Michigan football generations.
Some of the effort was coordinated, some of it was the spirit moving individuals and some of it was the Wolverines trying to sway him however they could.
"Michigan guys, they have a strong bond with each other, when you played here, you know what you've been through," said Jamie Morris, who was Michigan's lead running back — and the eventual U-M career leading rusher — for Harbaugh's three years as a starter in 1984-87. "It doesn't matter what coach. But you played here, so you kind of know what you went through together. Especially those guys who played in the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s, they have an affinity for one another."
Former U-M offensive lineman Jon Jansen, who crossed paths with Harbaugh as an NFL player for a few years, tried to call at times he knew Harbaugh was working, to avoid distracting him. They traded voice mails, but Jansen said he knows it was appreciated.
"All I wanted to do was reach out, captain to captain, to let him know we would love to have him back," said Jansen, who joined the U-M broadcast team last year. "Just sharing the experience with him, how great it was to be back in Ann Arbor, be back with Michigan football and just be a part of that. Just to make sure he and his family were comfortable coming back."
Harbaugh still has Sunday's game against Arizona remaining this season and a year remaining on his contract there, but there are reports, notably from Fox Sports last weekend, that he and the organization will split as early as Monday.
For those who are still in the "wait for it to happen" mind frame........ Get over it already!!!
I have no problems still waiting for the official announcement. While I would want nothing more than for this to happen, I am approaching it with cautious optimism until it is official, from the University of JH himself.

May be late to the party, but this is the first I've seen regarding 49ers staff saying they expect him to take the Michigan job.
Hmmmm, maybe, just maybe, they're there to pick him up after the game tomorrow?
@Johnubacon: I just got off the phone with more sources tonight. It's done. Jim Harbaugh is coming to Michigan - and his friends are flying in Monday.
