The first question lobbed at Brady Hoke after he finished his opening statement at Big Ten media days was about a player who had yet to play a down at Michigan.

Great article, Phil...and agree 110% with Coach Hoke! Let's give Peppers some breathing space, as he adapts to college life. I have no doubt that the kid will be a star at U-M & love his swagger but let's not overwhelm him with crazy pressure...he's still only 18!

I'm super excited to see him play but to compare him already, to the greatest Wolverine of all-time, without having played a down in college, is a bit much! Also, think Peppers should concentrate on his defensive responsiblities before helping the offense...though, wouldn't mind seeing him as a punt returner right away!

All top 5 overall kids type get a ton . The great ones deal with it play well anyway.

Here are the top 5 players over the last few years.Who from this list of kids didn't get ridiculous hype as freshmen?? Btw, almost all of the kids below either started and starred from day one or were complete busts. There's very little variation when it comes to guys either bursting onto the scene or not.Elite talent is elite and it doesn't hide no matter what age a kid is. This isn't the 1990s, guys are ready to play MUCH earlier than in the past.

"(Jabrill Peppers) had a great scrimmage,” according to his fellow defensive back Raymon Taylor.

“He made some plays, we all made plays, he had some tackles,” Taylor said. “I think he had one interception. We all came out and competed.”

“Jabrill moved out to some corner today,” Hoke said. “He’s kind of got his feet wet knowing what’s going on in the nickel position.”
