Michigan defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery is headed to Oklahoma, GoBlueWolverine.com is reporting.
Michigan coach Brady Hoke said last month he expected to retain his full staff next season, but the Sooners fired defensive line coach Jackie Shipp this offseason and reports surfaced Thursday they were interested in Montgomery.

Phil, hopefully you can do some snoopin' around and find out what exactly Brandon/Michigan's counter-offer to Montgomery was.  I sure hope we're not still lowballing our assistants.

All the reports I've seen say that he'll have the same title at Oklahoma which seems odd to me. Usually coaches leave for a higher coaching position *and* a raise. JM is a good guy, I wish him the best.

All the reports I've seen say that he'll have the same title at Oklahoma which seems odd to me. Usually coaches leave for a higher coaching position *and* a raise. JM is a good guy, I wish him the best.
Apparently, Montgomery is going to be the co-recruiting coordinator and will take over the entire defensive line after this upcoming season. I just hope that we didn't lowball him.

From what I read, it was a competitive counter offer by U-M but Montgomery felt it was too good an opportunity to pass on! I wish him well but don't plan on cheering for OU or Stoops!!

Same title, but did he get the credit he should have while he was here? He was really the 3rd DL coach to the puplic eye. So if he wants to make a name for himself maybe he felt he needed to get out from under things here. Best of luck to him, and thank him for his 2 years of hard work and helping us to turn things around.

Oh definitely, best of luck to him!! I certainly dont wish a bad end result for him. I hope he builds a USC style Dline out there.

He was stuck behind Hoke & Mattison so the move makes sense. All Brandon needed to do is raise the seat tax 3 or 4 more times and roll out 5 or 6 new unis and we could have paid the guy. But nooooo....
