Michigan defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery being pursued by Bob Stoops

as a potential replacement for their recently fired D-line coach. Make no misstake, losing Montgomery would be a huge blow to our efforts on the recrutiing trail. He is quite possibly the single most effective recruiter on our coaching staff, even better than Mattison or Hoke himself.
 
We're about to find out just how important winning and remaining competitive with the rest of the top tier programs in college football is to MSC, Brandon and the Regents. Whatever salary that Montgomery is offered must be matched. We spend far too much on non revenue sports to not be willing to pay to keep our best football coaches in Ann Arbor.

There's NO WAY that Hoke lets Montgomery go...hopefully! Give the man whatever he wants!!

May not have anything to do with money. Being the sole D-line coach is something we can't offer. From a career advancement standpoint the OU job makes a lot of sense as Montgomery is one of 3 D-line coaches, something we continually put out there in public.

Well, Montgomery would not be the only D-line coach at Oklahoma either. They have a seperate coach who works with the DEs. It would be a lateral move at best.

The DE coach is suppose to retire in a year is the rumor I heard.

Rather ominous things being put out there by certain Michigan insiders. My guess is that Montgomery may be on his way to Norman.

There is a rumor out there that Coach Montgomery met with Oklahoma DC Mike Stoops in Vegas last week to discuss the job opening.

Interesting that when a coach leaves, for the most part, everyone stays calm and collected. If a recruit leaves, on the other hand, all hell breaks loose.

That's key. Montgomery's replacement must be, first and foremost, an excellent recruiter (and an African American).
