2014- Recruiting Needs & wants

Can somebody break down by position our primary needs in 2014 please. I tend to follow recruiting better if I know what we need, and what we want.
Michigan vs tsiO rivalry: 58 wins, 36 losses, 6 ties, & 9 CHEATS Hoke: 1-1 Urban 1-1 vs. UM

WR who are both tall and fast. Not one or the other. Edge rushers seems to be something lacking as well.

WR, DL & DB are the most pressing IMO!

How many O linemen? Im sure at least 2 more TE's is needed. 1-2 QB's. 1 RB, 2 WR's? How about LB position?

I don't think TE is a position of much need anymore with the way we've recruited the position. That being said, you should always take 2 per class IMO, especially with our offense. Take 1-2 RBs, again, every class. And at least 1 QB, but we've got our QB for this class already in Speights. LB is a good question though. This depends on how our LB core has developed the past 2 1/2 seasons. I say we take 2, assuming they are coming along as expected, and 3 if one of them has stopped progressing.

This class is gonna end up <20 I think Amazen, I would think like 3-4 OL. Borges said in one of his signing day interviews, that TE was still a big need, he suggested 2 TE sets as the norm, and possibly 3 TE sets on the field, like in SDSU days........If thats the case I could argue at least 2 TE's this year, with a hybrid TE/DE maybe? I think this staff definitely has a hybrid player mentality.

2 TEs a year puts 10 on the roster any given year minus 1 or 2 to attrition, graduation, draft, etc. That's still good depth, even when lining up with 2 TEs. You should ALWAYS take a full O Line every year IMO so that you elliminate gaps in the depth chart. 2-TE 5-OL 4-DL 3-WR 1-QB 2-LB 1-RB 1-FB 2-DB = 21 guys. I don't know. What makes you think we'll be under 20 for this next class?

No one takes 5 linemen a year. It's overkill and would cause roster imbalance. Anywhere from 15-17 on the roster at a given time is the norm. The days of going 4 deep with scholarship players ended when recruiting limits were put in place. If you can get to 3 deep at most positions with no walk-ons/frosh you're doing pretty damn good. As for needs for this year, in some cases we have a particular need more than a position need. We have plenty of DBs from a numbers standpoint, what we lack is a lockdown #1 CB. Theoretically we could sign 1 DB and be fine, if its the right DB. My NEEDS list goes 2 QB 1 RB (preferably a speed back) 3 WR (including a #1) 2 TE 3 OL 2 WDE 2 3 tech DT 1 SLB #1 CB The rest is gravy

What makes you think we'll be under 20 for this next class? pretty simple. we're not gonna have that many schollies to give out, unless there's major attrition. but as of right now, the # is definitely less than 20 also, I think having 10 TEs on the roster is overkill. how many times are there gonna be 3 TE sets in a game? a few, maybe? also, I don't think we're taking 5 OL this year. 3, mayyyybe 4. OL depth should be stabilized due to the last two classes

Assumming you're going to play with a lot of multiple TEs. More than 6 TE/H-Backs is overkill. Can't get 10 guys meaningful reps and you're just asking for transfers, plus hurting yourself somewhere else on the roster.

Now that we have identified positions of need, who are the recruits that we can realistically expect to fill those needs for us? Go Blue!!
Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

I actually didn't take a lot of that into consideration. I suppose 6 TEs is good. I'd still be shooting for 3 deep at all the OL positions though. But, probably not 5 per year as I previously stated. I was sleepy and it made sense at the time, but now I can see how that's pretty unrealistic.
