Michigan Basketball season thread 2012-2013

The problem for Stauskus is that he spoiled us by starting out on fire from deep.  I mean he was pushing 60% from beyond the arc.  That is an absurd shooting percentage from deep!!!   And despite his recent slump he's been mired in, he's still shooting just under 50% from deep which is still ridiculously good!  I'm with MichFan in that I think he'll come out of this slump pretty soon.

just watched Sparty beat osu.  I'm sorry, I give osu ZERO credit for beating us last week.  They are not that good.  We came out and laid a serious egg.

I agree with you on OSU Wolvy. Had we come out like we did vs. Minny we would have beaten them by double digits which is what I expect when those losers come to Ann Arbor.

Looks like Duke will be # 1 again with Louisville falling. If Kansas stays ahead of us I will be pissed. We won comfortably on the road vs. a top 10 team. Kansas, on the other hand, was lucky to get past Texas who isn't even over .500 on the season. No way KU is deserving to be ranked ahead of us.

The issue with O$U is Kraft. He gets Burke off his game which disrupts our ability to score. Overall there's no doubt in my mind that we're better than O$U. If we can't win the PG match up we can't win the game though.

After watching the Minnesota game, and winning in the Barn, I think we're right there with everyone else. I can't believe I'm actually paying attention to college basketball again- thank you Coach Beilein for bringing us back!

Duke getting the doors blown off down in south beach right now....might be another opportunity for big blue to grab that #1 spot tomorrow night?

Duke's down 28 with just under 11 minutes left. Could be the first time in a loooooong time that the UM bball team has been #1. Better beat Purdue tomorrow night! Anyone know the line on that game? 10-15 points?

Michigan holds all the cards to being the next #1. Take care of business at home against a decent Purdue team and then go to Illinois and steal another road win.
 Even though Michigan does like to get out and run, I think we'll need to slow the game down a bit against the Illini and take them out of what they like to do, which is run.

Illinois is the trap game.  I'm not really worried about Purdue, but even though Illinois have fallen faster than a brick in water, they can still come out pull off the upset

Agreed Wolvy. Illinois seems to be playing to the level of their competition this year. They have the potential to play really good like we saw in their beatdown of OSU. Or they can be really bad as we saw in getting beatdown by Northwestern at home.

I'm guessing we will get Illi's best effort this weekend, but we can't sleep on Purdue either...

Looked shaky in first half as Purdue came out like gang busters and hit everything in sight. Mich kept pace and rolled em in the second.

Can't have another let down on the road. Beat the illini!

Purdue is a good young team. I would not be surprised if they beat IU in Lafayette next week. It was good to see Michigan get a good challenge and then pull away for the win. Mitch continues to improve, Glenn keeps giving us highlight dunks, and Trey and Tim lead us on to another victory. Now to take care of business at the first Assembly hall on Sunday.

everyone comes out and is giving UM their best shot.  It's so nice to have some depth this season because we are actually wearing teams down I think, and then pulling away in the second half.

The whole team played well tonite. It was nice to see some of our injured players back on the beach to add depth. 

I noticed early in the second half, when Michigan had a chance to build a good lead, we threw the ball into Morgan 3 different times, only to have him miss 3 shots. I can't recall the shot clock winding down.
It surprised me that they were trying to establish Morgan down low against a bigger defender, even when he is not known as a scorer. Anyone else catch that last night or have any thoughts??
