Don't know how many snaps the kid has actually taken at CB in his past, if any, so that part is hard to judge. He is an ELITE safety prospect however IMO. I wouldn't put him anywhere but safety myself.

How do we look at this stage of his recruitment? Is he favoring us at all?
It's no secret that Florida is in the drivers seat. He paid his own way up for a visit though so its obvious he has real interest. I don't expect to overtake Florida after a single visit but we`ll see where we stand after this weekend. This visit should move us into 2nd and hopefully earn us a return trip in the fall.

I wouldn't call anyone who pays their own dollar to travel from Florida to Michigan for a visit a pipe dream. We may not be the favorite (as previously stated by MF4L), but calling him a pipe dream is a stretch, IMO.

He loved the academic portion of the trip. He wants to go into music production, or something of the sort, and Michigan's degree impressed him. On top of that he thought the Big House was insane, as per usual. Still a long shot here but we've put ourselves in a position to stay in the race.

McQuay has a 4.2 GPA, so academics will be a key in his recruitment. However, there will be another big factor in McQuay's final landing spot.
"I'd love to go to a place with a really good music program," McQuay said. "Music is one of my loves. I'll probably try to major in audio engineering if I can."
Music is something that McQuay spends much of his spare time pursuing. He said he likes to create different sounds and beats for production. He likes many of today's best producers in popular hip-hop music, such as Kanye West.
For McQuay, producing music comes ahead of watching football.
"I don't watch a lot of football, or television for that matter," McQuay said. "I watched the Super Bowl because of the Patriots, but if I'm not playing or studying I'm trying to work on new sounds."

I`m wondering if that's just a slip on his father's part. I can't imagine Florida not being in his final group, he called them his leader just a little while ago.

Safety prospect Leon McQuay (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) has decided to release his top three schools. Michigan, USC and Vanderbilt are the three that make the cut, and it's due largely to their music departments.
"Leon and his coach came up with the list. He's chasing the music thing and those three schools have the best music programs," said his father, Leon Jr. "If that's something that he's chasing then I can only be happy for him."

I don't really get this. Maybe he wants to play corner and we're just telling him that he'll get his shot but he seems like a pure safety.

Mattison has been telling McQuan he can be the next Woodson. We're desperate for a #1 CB so on the one hand I understand. On the other, not sure the kid has actually ever played CB or how good he'd be at it. He says he wants to play CB though. He's one hell of a safety, I know that.
