U-M wants to play Pac-12 team in 2014

If we continue to refuse to schedule home and home series we're never going to pull a U$C, Oregon, or Stanford. Might be able to talk Mike Leech into bringing his team over for a 1 game series but no program worth its weight will agree to a 1 game, road game.

BAD idea...Brandon needs to go back and watch tape from 2000 against UCLA or 2001 against Washington or 2003 Oregon just to name a few games that were BAD ideas.

Citing games from 10+ years ago? Even then if we beat Oregon we catapult ourselves into the national championship picture and probably bag a Heisman in the process. Michigan fans need to get used to the idea of playing a challenging non-conference schedule, just like the athletic department does. Notre Dame isn't Notre Dame anymore, and scheduling MAC teams doesn't earn you any respect.

The only BAD idea would be scheduling Arizona or another 1AA opponent.

If we're going to be playing a Pac 10 opponent every year starting in 2017 (not crazy about that idea BTW), why not schedule an opponent from another conference in the meantime?
 
Why not a Clemson, Oklahoma St, Auburn, Mizzou, Va Tech, Arkansas, etc?

FWIW, I agree...a home-and-home with Stanford or USC would be AWESOME but Arizona would be BAD!

Forgive me if I'm mistaken but we did play those games and lose, right? We traveled 2000 miles across on the country in 3 different times zones and got beat, right? We were the better team in every game, right? I'm sorry, I can't just make up when we travel 2000 miles across the country and play Pac10 teams and lose, so yes I picked those from 10+ years ago.

I don't have a problem with a beefer schedule, I don't like games against Pac10 teams and would prefer the Big12, SEC or ACC.

We play MAC teams (instate or not) because EVERY team in the country plays local/regional MAC caliber teams and it allows those kids to come to the Big House and play.

Living in So Cal, I'd love to see my beloved Maize & Blue come out west for a regular season game...though, NOTHING tops the Rose Bowl!

I would too but let's face it, the Rose Bowl hasn't been particularly kind to us.  I'd rather see USC go to The Big House, like, in November.  ;)

Couldn't have said it better myself TK. The Rose Bowl, even when we visit UCLA, has just been ugly for us.
I also second the idea of a USC visit to AA. I hate them almost as much as I hate "Ohio."
