Basically, how do you rank our top 5 rivalries?

1. Ohio State (obviously)
2.
3.
4.
5.

Number one is a given but people usually differ on where the other big ones rank.

For me, it goes like this...

1. Ohio State (biggest rivalry in the western hemisphere)
2. Notre Dame (can't stand 'em)
3. Michigan State (time to beat up our little brothers again)
4. Minnesota (they can thank the little brown jug for that, nothing much else)
5. Illinois/Penn State/maybe a PAC-12 team...not too sure about this one

Didn't think about Minnesota...despite the Little Brown Jug...and included Nebraska, mostly for 1997 & now that we're division rivals!

Living in L.A., have to say that USC would be the most natural rival for us...and hope we bash them in Pasadena on New Year's Day 2013

3. MSU
4. Minny (since they are the only real rival left)
5. Penn State (went here because our fanbases just dont like each other very much)

2) MSU - conference trumps OOC
3) ND - love to beat their smug pusses
4) Penn State - new rival, but an important one
5) Illinois - goes back to the 60s when the Elliott brothers coached against each other. Illinois has an inferiority complex with UM, and considers us a big rival.
6) Minnesota - Brown Jug, and legacy factors. They were our biggest rivals from the 20s, 30s, and 40s.

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

I look at Penn State / Iowa as 4 and 5... Iowa not so much as a rival as "dammit they always seem to sneak up and beat us so I want to win that game"

1. Ohio
2. Notre Dame (detestable on many levels)
3. USC (ruined my first Rose Bowl)
4. Nebraska (the way they whined in 1997)
5. Iowa (ruined the first game I ever attended)

Ohio, MSU, ND.  Fill in the blanks with Iowa, PSU, Wisky, Illinois, etc. Not sure how Nebraska can be considered a rivalry game.  We've played them a grand total of what, 6 times?  Hell, we'll have played that many games against Appy St by the time Brandon is done.

1) OSU
2) MSU (conference and in-state rival trumps all ooc for me)
3) ND
4) Penn State (newer rivalry but we are asking this question in 2012 not 1960, since they joined in the 90's its been a good rivalry)
5) Iowa (this one's a toss up for me, but lots of history and they are in our division now)

I expect Nebraska to climb up this list rather quickly

I think Nebraska will end up being our 2nd biggest rival when all is said and done. We're going to be butting heads a lot for the right to play in the B1G championship.

1. OSU -enough said
2. MSU -in-state, in-division; enough said
3. ND -a modern tradition, mostly
4. Nebraska -another modern tradition that will mean a lot, in the coming years
5. Minnesota -the lore of the Jug, and the occasional Michigan let-down, is what makes it.

USC is an important honorable mention, as they are the quintessential Rose Bowl opponent, but I would not draw a Lakers-Celtics NBA Finals comparison, at all.
