Bowls' extravagant revenues are closely examined

Amateur athletics huh? Just one colossal money making machine. I honestly wouldn't care if most of the bowls disappeared. Attendance and TV ratings are down across the board anyway. Clearly something about the bowl system has worn off. Opening the college playoffs up to cities for the highest bidder is a VERY interesting idea. May actually land a major bowl game in the Midwest, say Chicago, NY, or Indy. Call me crazy or a radical, but I would rather see the a Big 10 team playing in the Midwest than the Rose Bowl. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--bowls--extravagant-revenues-are-closely-examined-as-the-ncaa-mulls-a-playoff-system.html#more-id

MichFan4Life Call me crazy or a radical, but I would rather see the a Big 10 team playing in the Midwest than the Rose Bowl. Agreed. I would LOVE to see B1G teams having home field advantage in a major bowl as well as seeing warm weather teams having to deal with the elements for once. I also agree that the current bowl system is WAY too watered down for my taste. You shouldn't be rewarded with a bowl by going .500. Heck, UCLA was UNDER .500 but because they won 6 games, they got to go bowling??? I would say, raise the bar to 8 wins to make a bowl. Actually make it a challenge and thus a TRUE reward to teams that would qualify. The reason ratings and attendance is down is because a) there's WAY too many bowls and b) nobody gives a damn about watching a couple of .500 teams duking it out?!
