Trouble in Arkansas- Bobby Petrino on leave Thursday, April 05, 2012 11:43 PM (permalink)

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas Razorbacks put football coach Bobby Petrino on paid leave Thursday after he failed to disclose he had been riding with a female employee half his age when his motorcycle skidded off the road over the weekend - an accident that prompted him to apologize for that and for what he described as a "previous inappropriate relationship."

....Dorrell, who did not return a call seeking comment, was hired March 28 by Petrino as the student-athlete development coordinator. She is in charge of organizing the recruiting process for the football team, including initial eligibility for each incoming player.

...Petrino's contract, which was for an average of $3.53 million annually, had a clause in it that would allow Arkansas to dismiss Petrino for "engaging in conduct, as solely determined by the university, which is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of head football coach or which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the (university's) athletics programs in any way."

I love how he admitted he was wrong in hindsight about not revealing the inappropriate relationship he was having with a woman half his age, but there was nothing about how, in hindsight, maybe it was inappropriate to cheat on his wife and 4 kids?!

Dude is a serious sleazeball but I don't see anything coming of this because he wins games...

If you cheat on your wife with a girl 20 years younger that works for you...you deserve the motorcycle tumble.

Speaking of karma, dude wasn't wearing a helmet either because he said he didn't like the way he looked when wearing a helmet.  Yeah, because this look is so much better

Like everything else in life, banging a 25 year old employees while having a wife and kids at home has consequences.

As so many have found out, its not the crime itself that gets you. Its the lying and the cover up.

Most coaches have an integrity clause in the their contract.

Athletic director Jeff Long announced his decision Tuesday night, saying he "knowingly misled" and engaged in reckless behavior during his relationship with a female football employee half his age.

The 51-year-old Petrino was injured in an April 1 motorcycle accident. He was put on paid leave last week after admitting he lied about the presence of the 25-year-old employee, Jessica Dorrell, who had been riding with him.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas fired head coach Bobby Petrino on Tuesday, publicly dressing him down for unfairly hiring his mistress and intentionally misleading his boss about everything from their relationship to her presence at the motorcycle accident that ultimately cost him his job.

Athletic director Jeff Long announced his decision at an evening news conference and laid out a stunning laundry list of misdeeds by the man he hired away from the Atlanta Falcons four years ago.

The 51-year-old Petrino, a married father of four, had maintained an inappropriate relationship with 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell for a "significant" amount of time and at one point had given her $20,000, Long said. He would not disclose details of the payment, but said both parties confirmed the "gift."

Long said Petrino was fired "with cause" -- meaning he will not receive a multimillion-dollar buyout -- and there were no discussions about ways to keep Petrino at Arkansas. Long declined comment when asked about Dorrell's job status.

What he failed to mention, both at a news conference and to Long, was the presence of Dorrell.

That revelation was made public when the state police released the accident report. Petrino informed Long of Dorrell's presence 20 minutes before the police released the report to the public, also admitting to what he called a previous inappropriate relationship with Dorrell.

Long placed Petrino on paid leave later that night, saying he was disappointed in Petrino and promising to review the coach's conduct. He said his review found the relationship between the two had lasted a "significant" amount of time.

As the review continued, the state police released the audio of the 911 call reporting Petrino's accident. It revealed Petrino didn't want to call police after the crash, and a subsequent police report showed he asked police if he was required to give the name of the passenger during the accident.

Petrino was forthcoming about Dorrell's name and presence with police, but only after misleading both Long and the public during his news conference. That led to the school releasing a statement from Petrino's family the day after the accident that said "no other individuals" were involved.

That proved not to be the case and the fracture in trust, along with questions about Dorrell's hiring by Petrino to be the school's student-athlete development coordinator, proved to be too much for Petrino to overcome in Long's eyes.

WOW...I knew he was a bad dude, but really...

What is funny is, just like Urban Meyer, everyone and their mother outside of the state of Arkansas, knew this guy was a sleazebal.  Now, with damning evidence to prove the masses right about Petrino, stupid Arkansas fans are still defending their sleazeball coach just like what we saw with Ohio fans and Jim Tressel and now with what we see from Ohio fans and Urb...

Wow.  I'm shocked. Didn't think an SEC program could ever have a grasp of basic right from wrong but hats off to the Hogs, they did the right thing. (although let's face it, Petrino made it REAL easy)  The only on-field job this d-bag will ever have in the future is mowing it.
