Michigan Alabama-Where to stay in Dallas??? Thursday, April 05, 2012 3:31 PM (permalink)

Got the tickets and flight booked to Dallas, super pumped!

But never been to Dallas, was wondering if anybody knows of the best area to stay in Dallas.  I know the stadium is in Arlington, but I'm 28 years old and looking for my hotel to be around some bars and nightlife as well.  Any advice would be appreciated!

I got my hotel, Baymont Inn & Suites, less than two miles from the stadium. It's right near a Six Flags but has free daily breakfast & shuttle service to/from the stadium & is reasonably priced. Would love to stay in downtown Dallas & hit all the bars but figure they'll be enough drinking at the tailgate

Should be plenty of hotels to find in Big D...it's my first time there too. Good luck finding a spot!

A shorter distance to the stadium is the Sheraton which is an average hotel. Easy to walk to stadium though but bar is small. There is a hooters on Collins Rd about 2 miles from the stadium. There are more upscale hotels across I-30 that should have shuttles to the stadium. If you need to know the hotels let me know. As far Six Flags there is a cool bar near there called Humperdinks.

I've stayed at the "w" in victory park right by American Airlines Arena. It has a vibrant nightlife within walking distance and is only 20 min from the stadium. If you're smart though you'll stay here in Austin and live the night life here and just drive up to the game on Saturday.

I've heard Austin is a great town when it comes to nightlife. Not sure I`d want to stay 3hrs from the Airport/stadium though.

One of these days I`m going to go on a College Gameday type tour see all the great college atmospheres. The joys of being single

Austin is definitely a great town!  I lived in Ft. Worth for 5 years right after college and I tried to make it down to SXSW every year.  Good times!

That said, I wouldn't choose to stay there for this game.  No way do I want to drive 3 hours up from Austin (if traffic is good) to see this game.

Arlington is about 20-30 minutes west on I-30 from Dallas. Think of the distance from the airport to Ann Arbor on I -94. I found a Baymont Hotel @ Six Flags which is walking distance to Cowboys Stadium for $160. There are a few bars around the stadium: Hooters, Humperdinks and TGIF to name a few. As far as nightlife I would go to the downtown area in Dallas. McKinney Av has some bars that the youngsters walk up and down the street to. I just went to SXSW and had a blast.

Thanks for the info. I'll be flying into Dallas & wasn't sure how far Arlington was from the airport...a bit farther than I expected but no worries. Ironically, I'm staying at that Baymont Hotel @ Six Flags & will probably be checking out Hooters and/or Humperdinks!

Yeah I know I got that hotel after checking others that were too high and remembered that you said that you booked Baymont. Thanks!!
Also you are driving from the airport which is about straight north of Arlington 20 miles away, while Dallas is about the same distance but east. (Airport is between Ft Worth and Dallas) You can take the south exit of the airport and then take hwy 183 west to hwy 360 south to get to your hotel.

Actually, don't have a car at the moment, so I'll be cabbing it from the airport to the hotel. How much might it be?

thanks for the responses everyone.  I am definitely a big fan of Austin, been there a couple times, great city but not looking to stay that far away.   I think we are going to end up staying in the Downtown area or West End Dallas.

On another note, does anyone know of any Michigan clubs or groups that are throwing a tailgate party where you pay and food, drinks, etc. is included????

If you are flying into DFW, the Cowboys stadium is 10 minutes away from the South airport exit. Downtown Dallas to the Stadium is about 15 - 20 minutes.

Sounds good, vixblue

I get into Dallas on late Friday afternoon & think there's some sort of U-M fan party that night at Cowboys Stadium...either way, we should hook up at the hotel!

Picking up my nephew on Friday. We are staying at the Baymont Sat. I hooked up a UM tailgating group for the Saturday fun. His name TJ-- TJhtown@gmail.com. Phone number is 936-714-4938. He makes name tags for whoever wants to go. I will have my car at the hotel with an ice chest for beverages--BEER, lawn chairs and goodies. Let me know if you guys want me meet up at the lobby Sat morning.
