The OFFICIAL-- Can we beat Bama thread? why/why not?

Figured it was such a slow posting time of the year, and nothing really good and juicy to talk and argue amoungst ourselves about. I was sitting here imagining how much  spring practice is being geared up specifically for Bama game opening week. And thought, what a great thread to start!

 Let's discuss:
1. Who brings back what on both sides of the ball
2. Our/theirs biggest strengths and weaknesses
3. Our coaching staff vs theirs
4. our depth vs theirs
5. schemes vs schemes
6. etc etc etc ( I cant name everything:)
7.Lets please not mention "His" or "His" name even once please, please, please.
8.see rule #7 (for us military folk ;) 
9. note how many grammatical errors I have made.
 
They way I see it, its BY FAR the biggest opening day contest out there, that I know of.
Its a perinneal power in Bama vs A returning (hopefully), perinneal power Michigan. One team, has hired a great coach, pulled themselves out of a 20+ year trench of underperformance, and have brough themselves back to the top (and imo right where they sould be, along with UM of course.) this game means so much to us, sure we come off an 11 game winning season, a BCS sugar bowl championship team #132. Can we dig ourselves out like bama did? This game will earn back soooo much of the national respect that we have lost over the PAST 2 COACHES......SO  what do you think team # 133 will mustar?
 
How do you think we do? I cant wait to read some of the posts!!!

I am nick picking here but to call Alabama a perrinneal power and not us is wrong IMO. Look at their records from 1997 to 2008 and their records were mostly terrible. Some of the seasons were because of NCAA sanctions. Just saying.

They've won 2 of the last 3 national titles and they have a very rich history of winning as well so they are very much a perennial power...

I don't think we do. And I have a sinking feeling it won't be close.

Reserve the right to hold off on any observations/thoughts until after the spring game...but, at this point, just hope we keep it respectable!
 
However, as the game inches closer, I feel more confident...no real reason, just the fan in me, I guess

Not well unfortunately
 
Everyone but the center comes back on the O-line for Bama, and Barrett Jones has already move back there.

bama lost almost all defensive starters from last year so ill say yes we have a shot of winning.

even with Bama losing a lot of defenders, we struggled to move the ball vs Virginia Tech after a 30 day layoff.  I don't like our chances after a 6 month layoff either.
 
 
But hey, at least we're out scheduling some great competition.  I love that

there we go, thank you 4 life, so we both have "new or newer" centers competing. Im not sold On Khoury, if hes going to get the nod, Im sure its his job to lose, right?
 
Our dline being completely oblivorated through graduation, is definitely cause for concern going against an experience Oline with quality players like they have at Bama, even with a new center installed, its going to be tough to get pressure with just the front 4 I envision. I sure hope Gm keeps that zone blitz pack we had last year, it seemed to work every time he called it........And im sure Bama has seen this and is preparing for it, maybe GM and Hoke need to tweek that a little bit.

I'm just hoping we can keep it within 14 points.  I have all the faith in the world in our coaching staff but our talent level isn't in the same stratosphere as 'Bama's.  It will be in the not-so distant future I think.  But not now.  I don't care who 'Bama lost, they'll dominant both lines and their D will be good as always.  The break is that it's the 1st game and things don't always go well for teams the 1st game.  Keep it close and be competetive on national TV.  Realistically, anything more than that would be a bonus.  (But I would LOVE to be proven wrong! ;)

VA tech has an sec defense not to mention Molk being hurt really effected us
