I've deliberately refrained from bringing this kid's name up because of his age and the horror of the Dee Hart saga. Sam Webb let the national cat out of the bag in todays Det News so we might as well get the ball rolling. Morris has drawn a lot of comparisons to Drew Henson, both in style of play and caliber of prospect. He's likely to be a top 5 QB prospect in 2013 and will end up with a who's who list of offers. Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Syracuse and a handful of MAC schools have already offered. Sam didn't touch on it in the article (probably because the kid doesn't want it played up) but Shane and his entire family are all big Michigan fans. It is too early to talk leaders though and once the national hounds join the game, things like childhood favoritism are likely to go out of the window.

I hear that he doesnt want to play for Hokes clan . His father said only if the line shows a complete 360 on blocking will his son even think about playing a Michigan if offered. I think he will be blue because i know that 360 is on its way.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to talk leaders at this point. With that said, I`d be shocked if he ended up at Michigan State. Sparty is still unable to land elite talent from schools that aren't a pipeline. Even with Michigan in the dumps they've been unable to capitalize. This kid is going to be recruited by everybody, that's not a situation that Sparty is well suited for.  

Probably depends on a couple factors:

1. What QB does Michigan land in 2012 class and is he an elite QB.

2. Michigan's record in 2012 and upside for 2013 and beyond.

Did he ever actually say he was a Michigan State fan? I know he mentioned he has formed a good relationship with the coaches and that they recruited him first, but his family is full of Michigan fans and his mom cried when he was offered by us a month ago. I'm not saying he's a lock either way, probably a top 3 quarterback in the country and those are never locks.

Shane was the starting QB for Team Detroit at the recent Badger Sport 7 on 7, one of the only 2012 guys if I`m not mistaken. Playing with and against older kids will help him tremendously, not bad for camaraderie either considering he was playing with and against a bunch of Michigan prospects.

Hoke seems to be building good rapport with Michigan HS coaches and I have been happy with his approach so far. Protect the home base then go into other states and get some top talent.

That was quick, lmao. Still need to land a QB in this class. It will be interesting to see how Morris's recruitment goes considering how early he committed, my guess is he doesn't get ranked where he should and doesn't rack up a ton offers.

Tom thinks he'll 4 star QB with a chance at 5 stars.
 
 
Seems like he would only get 5 stars if he camped a lot of places. Either way, I'll take it. Hopefully he'll help recruit some offensive players for us. Maybe a big play WR or two.
 
I wonder if this helps a lot with this years recruits.

Unless he actively campaigns for it, I doubt Morris end up being the top 5 QB that a lot of people have projected.  Schools know he loves Michigan so that will keep his offers down which affects ratings. And if he doesn't hit up all the camps, combines, and circuits that a QB would who was looking to impress schools and analysts (which he really has no incentive to now) his lack of overall exposure will keep his rating down as well. I`m sure Allen Trieu at Scout will fight to keep his rating up though, lol
 
BTW, here's what the director of scouting for Scout.com had to say (grain of salt as always). 
 

 
"It was obvious he had a big arm to go with his frame. He has good mechanics as well, and I was doubly surprised to find out that the biggest kid on the field was only a member of the Class of 2013."
 
"He reminded me a little of how it was with Gunner Kiel and Zeke Pike at these events last year... Gunner and Zeke are going to be Top 5 quarterbacks this year, and while I’m not ready to say Morris is going to be there next year, he certainly has all of the tools to be."
 

 
P.S Morris was named best young arm at the 7-7 camp that I posted the video of earlier in the thread.

Seems like the recruiting insiders at both of the major paysites love this kid's potential. I'm sure that he'll be encouraged to camp at a few places just to increase his exposure (and help recruit for us ). He could end up a five star when all is said and done.

A lower rated prospect has no reason not to. This pretty much closes the door on Kiel and Pike though, IMO.

Because QBs are some of the cockiest people on the planet  A HS sophomore isn't going scare off a lot of guys, not when a kid can get on campus a year early and get a jump. Denard and Tate theoretically should have kept DG from wanting to come, yet he didn't hesitate.
 
I hope we didn't make him a Drew Henson like promise about current and future QB recruiting. We've been down that road once, don't want to do it again no matter how talented he is.

Morris wanted to know if Michigan was going to take another QB in this class, had a good talk, said Hoke went crazy.

 

Hoke told Shane Morris that they will be taking another QB, mentioned Drew Henson scenario, Morris said he's fine with it.
