So after all the gnashing of teeth and beating of chests, Green is #1 on the depth chart at RB.

I hope to watch whoever gets the most carries run downhill all day.

Or uphill does not concern me, either way I'm good. As long as we get yards on the ground!

Burzynski starting at RG?...over Bosch and Kalis?

Hypothetically, I can't believe we could have 2 walkons and a true FR starting on our OL for the ND game over ALL these highly touted OL recruits. Glasgow at C, Burzynski at RG and Cole at LT.

You never want walkons in the starting lineup unless it is a punter, kicker or snapper. Anywhere else means you missed on a lot of recruits.

Actually, he's had a pretty damn good camp under the radar. It hasn't been talked about much though. I still expect Ross to start, but it's good to have the depth.

Good to hear about Stone.

Isn't Kalis still nursing injury?  Maybe that's why Busy Burz is in there.

Probably not much...the evaluation period is over; the season is here so it's time to prepare and scheme for the opponents against Scout teams. Sure, competition still exists, but coaches have a pretty good grasp on the horses they will be going with by now.

Tues - pads against Scout
Wed - pads against Scout
Thurs - shells
Fri - walk through
Sat - gameday

Maybe its just me and I just drank the kool-aid but it is baffling not to see some of the big names that have been recruited over the last 2-3 years cracking the top of the depth chart.  The two that really stand out for me is Kalis and Pipkens.  Both are massive and both were highly recruited, what gives?

Pee wee is coming off a knee injury I believe. Kalis has a back I believe, he was supposed to be live though.

Tom Beaver claims Kalis could start Saturday. That really the OR should be Kalis if healthy enough Saturday. He says believe Brady's words at the press conference, not the written depth chart.

He tore his ACL in October last year too. So, a walkon with a torn ACL less than a year ago, beat out a 5-star OL-man, and others...perfect!

There's another article right below the depth chart article on Mlive saying RG is the only Oline spot still up for grabs so it isn't Joey's yet.

I'm thinking Hoke wants/needs Kalis to start. That way, the only position he may have to change for ND is C as Glasgow will be back.

Kalis hasn't been healthy since basically October of last year. The back injury may end up derailing his career.

Pipkins has been held out as a precaution recovering from the knee (and will continue to be limited into the season).

RG might still be up for grabs, but if Kalis truly is hurt (back), then why isn't our other 4-star, high school AA, Kyle Bosch (#4 Guard in high school), nailing down the RG spot?

Because he is only one of the flock of bad OL we recruited, we try hard to evaluate OL talent, but sometimes you end looking like a super star, sometimes you have egg on your face. So we went 2/10 in the past few years, well get there eventually!

Sincerely,

It's amazing how many people still take the bait that Hoke throws out there. I mean, he's only been lying to the media and fans for over three and a half years now. You'd think eventually this fanbase might wise up. But no, a new fall, a new season, a new depth chart, and the fans bite on it, hook, line, and sinker.

Did I say Ryan wouldn't be starting, did I say I bought Hoke's BS? Nope & nope. I said "say what????" What possible motive could Hoke have for doing this. We all know Ryan doesn't lack motivation, so what possible purpose could this serve? More of a slap in the face than anything IMO.

I swear I need a disclaimer instead of a signature..."Be advised that the author is a condescending smartass & taking the above statement too literally or seriously could lead to a failure to properly comprehend the remark(s)."

Can't we all just get along?!?!

Now back to football...Did anyone else find them-self terribly excited to see the punt return team when they read Pepper's was the return man, or was it just me?

Perhaps our abysmal o-line will be a good thing in terms of entertainment value. If we go 3 & out every time that means more punts from our opponent, ergo more returns for Peppers, double ergo more excitement & entertainment for us! Woo-Hoo!!!

Lol is it just me? I am sick & all hoped up on meds but, seriously?

More 3 & outs by Michigan equals more possessions for our opponent. More possessions for our opponent equals more punts. Unless of course our defense is abysmal as well & the other team scores every time they touch ball.

If Kalis is hurt, then I don't see it being outside the realm of possibility that Burz gets the start over Bosch, considering Burz has 4 years in the program and has more experience on the field.  Should Bosch have surpassed a walk-on by now?  You'd certainly hope so considering his hype, but with only a year in the program, maybe these guys are closer than you'd think.  Personally, I don't care who starts, walk-on or 5*, as long as they get the job done.  I'm skeptical, but then again, that goes for the ENTIRE O-line.  We'll see how it all plays out in 2 weeks against ND, as I don't see App State as the true test of how far we've come.

I'll be glad when this game is over.  One reason scheduling them was a joke is having to deal with the trolls and the replays of the 07 game.  We could win by 100 and we will have accomplished nothing.

We have not had a return TD (punt or kickoff) in the Hoke era. Our special teams as a whole, minus FG/XP have been pretty disappointing the last 3 years. Maybe Peppers will change that but it takes the 10 other guys doing their jobs as well to make it happen. Norfleet is a pretty explosive guy in the open field and he hasn't been able to break a big return so we`ll see.

They shouldn't be close no matter how many years Burzynski has been in the program. Bosch has more natural talent and enrolled early and at 6'1 290lbs, Burzynski is SEVERELY limited physically.

I care who starts. If our most talented prospects, and the guys with the highest ceilings, aren't playing major roles it significantly affects the makeup of our team. You need studs and no matter how technically sound and hard working guys like Burzynski, Ryan Glasglow, Jeremy Clark, Graham Glasglow and others are they will never be studs. The Ondre Pipkins, Dymonte Thomas's, Kyle Kalis, Patrick Kugler, Kyle Bosch's of the team HAVE to perform. We can't afford for them to be buried on the depth chart (not all are granted but none are set to start).

You HAVE to have a high hit rate on your most talent prospects. You don't get that many to begin with and their potential yield is much higher than everyone else.
