Repackaging Michigan's Brutal Schedule as an Opportunity for Greatness - Tuesday, August 05, 2014 11:47 AM

But quarterback Devin Gardner isn’t intimidated by the tough schedule. Talking last week during Big Ten media day in Chicago he sounded eager for the challenge as he served up some bulletin board material for Michigan’s foes in South Bend, East Lansing and Columbus.

Can Michigan finish above .500 away from The Big House:
@Notre Dame
@Rutgers
@Michigan State
@Northwestern
@Ohio State

How are they repackaging the soft home schedule to sell more tickets?

Given this team has a lot issues to fix, I am not sure we can even call our home schedule "soft"

I think we should manage over .500. I don't see 5-0 or 4-1 happening, but I think we can go 3-2.

Brutal??????

Give me a break. Tossing an @ in front of a game doesn't make it brutal if the team isn't of high quality. In reality we`ll probably only play one BCS bowl caliber team. We're not out playing the 72 Dolphins.

I agree. Quite honestly, this Big Ten is a joke. The fact that NW and Maryland on the road is even a question speaks to the state of the program.

you make a good point by saying that, however, all things considered (all 3 rivalries on the road which have been deathtraps for us recently, UM's inability to win on the road period, and the team's overall inconsistency) have "justified" UM fans claiming this is a brutal (road) schedule

"Brutal" is an overstatement to say the least. Anything less than 7-0 at home is a travesty with that slate of teams. Look no further in the difficulty putting butts in the seats for these games.

As far as the road schedule, Rutgers is down and Northwestern should be a "W". Pull off one win out of the other three and I think you can call this season a "Meets Expectations".
Every day you get up for work, just remember that we are all Dave Brandon's hoes.

Rutgers has to be a win…I don’t care if it’s at night and one of their biggest home games of the season…we shouldn’t lost to those guys.

ND is beatable no doubt…my only concern is it’s so early in the season and will we be ready for the bright lights of a night game on the road?

NW is going to be tough ass game on the road this year….they bring back their QB, Venrick Mark and both of their WR’s…along with some experience on D….and we never seem to play all that well at Ryan Field (have we played there like 4 straight years now?)….this game scares me more than Rutgers or ND.

I have a really hard time thinking Sparty can repeat or pull off the same theatrics from last year….we have to remember they only went 7-6 the year before. But again, it will be their D that will keep them in every single game they play…and if they can get their offense clicking by mid-season, they will be tough.

The Ohio game is another lost cause I’m afraid….and it’s on the road. As sad as it is to say…they are simply more talented than us, with more depth and Miller might just absolutely destroy us at the shoe.

So I think we go 2-3 in those games…

Go Blue!!

I'll honestly be surprised if Miller is playing in The Game.  Brand new offensive line and no Carlos Hyde to lean on?  He gonna get got by seasons end.  No Kenny Guiton to fall back on, only CarDale "I didn't come to osu to go to class" Jones backing him up.........hey, good luck with that.

We will make the road schedule brutal no matter who's on it.

You know, just like always under The Arthur T Lilly Simon & Garfunkel Partridge Family University Of Michigan Head Football Coach: Brady Hoke.

3-2 would be a reasonable expectation, however I could easily see 1-4. You are what your record says you are & this groups record on the road is atrocious.
