Fantastic article on the way of life in the $EC as told by a "bag man" himself. It is long, but well worth it!

"If you hear stories about bank accounts, they're fake. Why would there be a bank account? Yeah, I'm gonna open a checking account with statements someone could subpoena. Oh and hey, in this small town of however-many-thousands of people I'm gonna go in and open some account and then ask for a bunch of black teenagers to be put on there and ask for a bunch of debit cards they could get caught with. Why don't I just take out a f*cking ad?"

LMAO!

This was my favorite quote:
"The coach won't know exactly when we decide to make that happen, but they've got a good idea. Then we get to see just how damn good a recruiter he really is. I know one of our guys once stopped putting in big bucks, way more than what I do, just because a head coach cussed too much on the team plane. [The coach] was losing anyway, but because he took the Lord's name in vain, that guy was offended by his morality and stopped illegally paying college football players."

Not at all surprising and not at all limited to the SEC. I've said it before, Ed Martin is a homeless man compared to some of the football boosters at Michigan.

Whatever the minimum of necessary paperwork to absolve a player of improper benefits received is, it's not a problem. A title for a moderately priced SUV can be created in a relative's name, as can a receipt of sale for a reasonable price.
"Hey, how'd he get that ride? His uncle bought it. How did his uncle buy it? Paid cash. Paid cash, how'd he do that? ****, we don't know, but here's the receipt where he paid cash, and now y'all ain't got ****. Go tell the NCAA you think we're cheating because this kid's uncle bought him a used Tahoe in cash, you racist."

This is classic! LMAO

We need to try harder. I'm sick of the holier than thou ****. If we're cheating, which we are, what's the point of only cheating a little? "Oh we let boosters give kids $500 cash occasionally, but a car? Absolutely not!" Just sounds stupid, doesn't it?

GTFO.  You mean the rich guys who appear to be in charge are just fronts, manipulated by really rich guys who don't want you to know who they are?  I don't buy that story at all.  This is America, fergodsakes!

This article proves everything a former SEC player told me down here in Atlanta....that I have mentioned here several times in the past!

Was at a cigar shop in the ATL, bout 5/6 years ago....speaking with Will Overstreet, former DE for Tenn vols, and ex-falcon.
Will said:
1) The top guys get 3-5 grand a month during football season
2) He was recruited by 3 SEC schools.....and they all offered money
3) I asked him about a rumor that Jamal Lewis got a cash box of $100,000 to go to tenn instead of georgia (where he was from)....and he said based on this knowlege it was proabably true
4) When I asked him POINT BLANK if it is as bad in other conferences, since he played with guys from other conferences in the NFL, he said no....because he said the fans/alums (in the south) are so passionate about their programs & winning they will do whatever it takes.....that validates that inference which was in that story MULTIPLE times
And just like the bagman, Will was very matter of fact/casual about everything he told me.....

Ed Martin was not a bagman, he could care less what school Chris Webber went to. In fact, Chris was headed to syracuse unitil it looked like the NCAA was going to drop the hammer. Martin was merely a gambler who wanted to launder his money. In addition, Gardner and Denard had the bit in "three in out" in which they described their SEC vists, and how they were crazy to go to michigan cause michigan didn't offer anything.....
