Hoke has admitted that his staff needs to do a better job of player development and with returning depth at quarterback Doug Nussmeier is now on the hook to show that he can do better than his predecessor.
Hoke's tenure in Ann Arbor depends on it.

Very anxious to see how much positive effect Nussmeier will have on Morris' development...not to mention, Bellomy & Speight. Hope Gardner gets healthy by the fall...while I truly like & believe that Morris will be a stud QB, I feel Gardner should lead Team 135.

I'm also really interested in whether Nussmeier can help Bellomy become a "serviceable" QB...that would be an amazing achievement IMO. Would prefer Speight redshirt in 2014.

This is a big part of why hiring Nussmeier was a great move.

Bellomy is such a wildcard. He's not the greatest QB ever, but I think he is much better than the one time we really got to get a good look at him in a game situation. I would really love to see him get some mop up time at some point if only to prove he is better than he played against the cornsuckers.

The starting job is Devin's to lose. Unless he totally stinks it up in fall practice (doubtful) and Morris is lights out (possible), he deserves to get the nod.

I agree that it is Devin's job to lose. I really hope that if he loses the job that the coaches feel the Bellomy/Morris is an adequate back-up and DG can move back to WR. Not sure how open he would be to that but he is the best athlete we have on offense and needs to be on the field.

We'll need SOMEbody to coach the QB's.  Gardner is...well...Gardner and Morris is a wild card.  Could be a good one but who really knows?  Speight has horrible mechanics and is inaccurate as they come so we have work to do.

what does that mean? Gardner was up and down but by far the best QB on the roster. I am assuming that was tongue and cheek

DG is starting qb '14 guaranteed! No way in hell Hoke is starting .Morris against app state game 1. G-U-A-R-A-N-T-E-E. He may lose his job eventually no arguments there. There will be talk all year until game 1 of a qb competition but it will all be fluff.

Mark this post (minus an injury preventing him) DG is the starting qb.

I wasn't ranking QB's by talent, just by the order in which they'll be playing.  And no, there was nothing tongue in cheek. Gardner is Gardner and he's exactly what you said-up and down.  Bottom line is all 3 of these guys have issues which simply means the QB position at Michigan is not great for the foreseeable future, hence the need for a good QB coach.
