Morris redshirting 2014 season - Saturday, January 18, 2014 12:13 PM

To me, the Gardner or Morris question isn’t even relevant, and instead what should be talked about is whether or not Morris should be redshirted. Hear me out on this one. With Gardner starting, and Russell Bellomy now being 100% healthy, Michigan now has some depth at the quarterback position. If Bellomy can show that he is solid enough to spell Gardner should he get dinged up for a play or two, then it is feasible that Morris could redshirt. If Gardner gets hurt for an extended period of time, Morris could always have that redshirt burned, obviously. Redshirting Morris would give him 3 years of eligibility heading into the 2015 season. To me, this would be an ideal situation for Michigan football.

I read this today and thought it was an interesting idea.

What do you think?

Didn't his redshirt get burned by playing in the bowl game?

He burned his redshirt for this year but you can redshirt any year.

So Bellomy takes the 2nd team reps in practice even though he clearly is not the 2nd QB on the roster? Just not a practical situation. Had we bothered to take a QB in the 2012 class we wouldn't be in this mess.

Hell I'd fully expect Shane to do all within his power to pursue the starting job.

I think you are more likely to see Speight redshirt.

That's obvious unless Gardner, Bellomy and Morris all go down.
