Does Hoke's recent move change your view of him?  It does for me, I am still shocked he made it.  Granted Brandon might have forced his hand a bit, but still Michigan made a change to better the program, and I think most of us thought it would not happen.

i think it was a good first step.   I think the O line coach and the D backs coaches need to go as well.  But, I am shocked that Hoke had the stones to go thru with it

10% of the battle is firing the guy (Borges). That's as easy as figuring out what shirt to wear. There's no sense in celebrating the biggest no brainer in the history of Michigan football. Hoke, like Borges proved he's capable and just raised the stakes. What made myself and so many other Michigan fans upset was seeing the inconsistency of Borges from week to week. One game was great (ala ND or O$U) but far too many were complete sh*t (ala M$U, Iowa, NW, etc). That's unacceptable.

Hoke has now shown he's capable of firing and hiring the right guy (Nussmeier) so there's no more excuses. It's time to get sh*t done! It's time to play for a Big 10 Championship! It's time to win games on the road! It's time to see player development! It's time to see guys declare early for the NFL! It's time to build Hoke's Michigan identity!

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

It makes me feel better about next season's offense, but in no way does it completely restore my faith in Hoke.  As has been said, firing our previous OC was a no brainer, should have been done last year.  Hoke's seat is a little less hot, but the seat is still hot.

I stand by my earlier posts of supporting Hoke 1 more season even without a change, but that was it one year only. So since he made a change, and a damned good one he bought himself more time with me. If he gets rid of the other "2" lame ducks, I'd give him even more time. Just my .02

Hoke made a move "to better Michigan."

I'm trying to think of another reason why he'd make a move.
Good luck RR! Go Hoke! Go Blue!

The other option was "no move", which most thought that's the way it would go down.   Another year of Borges, same mediocre offense and no improvement.

Hoke went out and got a candidate no one here thought he would.  So the point maybe he's not the head coach we thought he was.

Except it is quite likely that DB forced his hand. Considering the fact that we continue to hold onto dead weight within the position coaches, I won't be celebrating just yet.

Borges was not the only coaching issue, he was simply the biggest and HAD to go. Other moves are needed if Hoke truly wants to make Michigan better.

1) Hoke's "move" was the biggest no-brainer in the history of M Football.
2) As MF4L said, I doubt it was all his doing.  DB is calling the shots.

Wait, I thought firing Rich Rod was the biggest no-brainer in the history of M Football?!?!

Most thought that would be the case, but at least 95% of people with a brain and any knowledge of the program KNEW Borges had to go, so I'm not going to get worked up congratulating Hoke on something he should've done after the final whistle on 11/30/2013.  Basically, he did what he was supposed to do...a month too late.

You cannot fire an OC and have nobody lined up this time of year.  It would kill your recruiting.

Hoke would have been an Idiot to fire Borges after the OSU game with no one lined up.

Timing is important but I don't get too wrapped up in what it does to recruiting.  That's short term when you're in need of a long term solution.  But to fire Borges just so you can say you fired him (with no plan in place) isn't prudent so Michigan did it the right way. This time.  There may be recruits who may lose interest because Borges is gone (I don't know who that would be) and there will be guys that will gain interest because of Nuss, but yes, the timing can be crucial.  The flip side of this is the way we handled Rodriguez.  He should have been walking home from Columbus, not coaching our bowl game.

Florida did

Al Borges didn't do a ton of 1 on 1 recruiting anyway.
