Is Louisville really a better job than UofA?

It'd be different if he was here in Tempe coaching ASU, it's an all around better job, Tucson blows.

Eric, you are kidding me right.  Tuscon is one of the best cities in the country as far as I am concerned and I have been to a lot of US cities!  I have always has a boat load of fun there between the bars and restaurants to the outdoor activities.  Its on my top 3 list of places to retire.

On a side note, have you been to Kentucky?  No way I would leave Arizona for that craptastic state!

Pretty much. The only people I meet who slag Tucson are usually suburban, mall-dweller types because it's a little more desert than their irrigated subdivision in the Phoenix suburbs.

As far as the comparison between the two jobs, I was talking job only, not locale. UofA is in a major conference with the ability to recruit California and TX. Both programs take a backseat to BBall, so it still seems UofA's better, but RR is probably a lot more comfortable living and recruiting in Louisville's neck of the woods and he probably still has a bunch of family in that part of the country.

Louisville is moving to the ACC next season so is F$U, Miami (FL), VaTech, Clemson, etc better than U$C, UCLA, Oregon, Stanford, etc? OR, which school and conference give him a better chance at winning a conference title? ACC?

It would be a lateral move. Much better recruiting base at Arizona vs. Louisville but Louisville has had more recent success than Arizona. Easier path to win the conference in the ACC vs. Pac 12.

I`d honestly be torn.

I live about 20 minutes from Louisville ... the RichRod thing ain't happening. They play something in Louisville called "defense" and RR knows absolutely nothing of what that's about. His name around here isn't being mentioned for the gig.

I know the DC for U of L was interviewed for the position, and the AD at Louisville -- Tom Jurich -- has a track record of going after up-and-coming coaches. He got John L. Smith (before JL went to Sparty), Bobby Petrino (Atlanta Falcons), Steve Kragthorpe (the HUGE black eye on his record of decent coaches ... now an AA at LSU) and now Charlie Strong (Texas).

I think top down the PAC 12 is still the tougher conference....also the ACC only plays 8 conference games compared to the PAC 12's 9....so I think Louisville will have and easier road....that said I do not think RR should make that jump if offered. He currently has the top recruiting class in the PAC 12 and he has lower expectations.

Charlie Strong and Vance Bedford brought defense to Louisville. They were never known for their defense before that. They were pretty terrible on defense before strong actually, always had offensive guys.

Arizona's D wasn't as bad as some think this year. Finished 62nd in total D (ahead of some pretty good teams including Auburn and Missouri) and they finished 40th in scoring D (.4 points per game behind Auburn and ahead of teams like Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, Miami, Duke, and Texas.)

Hush you! What's next, you going to start citing top 10 defenses Rich Rod had at WVU????????? Rich Rod's defense are a completely different animal with and without Jeff Casteel, who he was unable or unwilling to bring to Michigan (depending on who you ask).

With that said, the nature of how his, and many other teams are built lend themselves to yielding quite a few points and yards.

The only time I can remember them being terrible on defense was under Krags.

Before that, they weren't world-beaters on defense, but they definitely held their own.

In the past what they did was the same formula the Colts used under Manning, which was hope your defense was just good enough while the offense put up ridiculous numbers. Granted, with the exception of a couple of years where the Big East was fairly stout, they've never played an overly difficult schedule.

Depends on where you live in Kentucky. Louisville isn't bad and is within a few hours drive of multiple pro and college teams, with lots of other stuff to do. If you live in the far eastern, far western or far southern part of the state, then, yeah ... you're right.
