Are Al Borges and Greg Mattison Overpaid? - Friday, December 20, 2013 8:27 AM

Both the offense and defense failed equally, bringing about the first major crisis of Brady Hoke’s tenure as head coach. When Hoke was hired, he was given latitude to hire top coordinators to help rebuild the program. USA Today recently published the salaries of NCAA assistant coaches. How do Michigan’s coaches compare to other programs?

Short answer: one of them sure is...but only if you care about clearly defined metrics like wins, rankings, and statistics

Could help explain why season tix are so expensive.

What is embarrassing is Michigan is the only school in Top Ten and NOT nationally ranked.

Based on production, absolutely overpaid. Though bringing our defense from the dumpster to where it is now is probably worth $800K. After year one though, GMatt has been overpaid based on production and progression of the defense as a whole.

Mattison, no.  Borges?  Oh, hell yes, he should be arrested for stealing his money.

The dirty secret is that GMatt is really no better than Borgenius at this point.  When is the last time his unit made a difference for the better in a game?  2012 year against Sparty?  That was a while ago.

Only one man is responsible for Mattison and Borges and until you guys wake the F*** up and realize it, I'll just keep on listening to the "wait 'til 2015" bullsh**.

Hoke, Borges and Mattison are all overpaid and underperforming at this point. Time to clean house.

Bring Les home!

Does a bear shat in the woods in wipe his arse with a fluffy white rabbit?!?! Of course they're overpaid & to echo an earlier post you can lump Big Wussy (I can't use his real name here but you remember the Sopranos right) aka Brady Hoke & Dave Brandon & the ball boys & concession stand workers ( yes I know they're volunteers) & of course the players right in there with them. This whole thing is an unmitigated disaster from top to bottom.

For the new year, can we please bring Miles home!?!?!? Just rewatched the highlights, and press conference. There's nothing going on between Hokes ears. You had the spotlight, you have your BCS win, no go play in the woods. He is 100% responsible for Borges, and hell G Matt has proven nothing all year.

JSJ lol too funny.  Not many people remember the long lost brother. That's kinda how I would like to remember Dave and the gang.

Nah, it must be J. Harbaugh (either Jim or John.)  However, until DB is gone, nothing is going to happen.

I think until we get an elite coach this banana football program will go on for years and years and years and we ain't elite folks!

If DB "were smart" he'd do EVERYTHING in his power, behind the scenes to try and snag John H from Baltimore........I bet he would come if he were asked (and paid, of course)

He is the only elite coach I think we can snag still. I can dream, right?

You and me both. John's team finished up today and Brandon's finished up yesterday--or 2 months ago, depending on your perspective--so the stars are alligned to make a BIG hire for the first time in my lifetime.

Unfortunately, life's far too comfortable and safe in AA for Brandon and Hoke's gang to trouble themselves with things like change, which is the big problem to begin with.

I was thinking the same dang thing dude. Stars are TRYING to line up for at least a chance at nabbing him. I just wonder if DB is saving face with the staff and is secretly working behind the scenes. Hes a lot of things, but dumb is not one of them. I just cant sit here and believe that he doesnt even think about the possibility of even contacting him. Man I want John H here badly! If it means losing Peppers and whoever else, so be it. Cut off the hand to save the body from gangrene, you dont keep the pinky finger just because it was loyal, ya know?
