Shane Morris Leading the Offense in Bowl Practice - Thursday, December 19, 2013 10:08 AM

One of Hoke’s mantras since taking over has been, “…that the expectation is for the position not the player,” but Morris would be the least experienced quarterback to start in the Hoke era if Gardner cannot play.

"Whoever plays quarterback for Michigan will benefit from an improved offensive line that is taking advantage of the bowl preparation to gain much-needed experience. Borges praised the progress made by his young offensive line.
Everybody is getting a feel for the offense. Bowl games are kind of another spring football [worth of practices].”

Ummm... isn't this the last game of the year, Al? Shouldn't they already have a feel for the offense?

well, johnny, it's the very end of the 3rd year and Big Al is just now implementing his offense.  We're just suppose to ignore the ineptitude of it all before now.

IMO, Gardner gives us the best chance to win (in this bowl game and 2014); however, I haven't seen enough of Morris to say how he will perform on this stage and part of me is curious to see him.

Gardner needs all the snaps he can get to continue his development as a QB too.

Go Blue!!

If he can't go due to injury, then there's nothing we can really do about it other than get behind Morris.

But Gardner should be the starter from day 1 next year.

Ugh.  This is a terrible situation.  If Morris plays halfway decent, we'll have fans clamoring even louder for him to start.  I agree that Gardner give us the best chance to win and I think he should start next year, but with the rocky year we had this year the fan base is very, very restless.

Crap.

This season is already over IMO. At this point I`m interested in seeing where Shane is. If it starts at QB controversy so be it. I have a feeling people aren't going to be clamoring for Shane to start next year if he does get the start. He's a true freshmen that will probably make quite a few mistakes.

But hey, everyone always loves the backup QB so.....

facebook guy is saying Gardner injury may be more serious than turf toe.  As in something in the foot broken.

just a rumor

If Gardner is this much of a question mark almost a week away from the game they should probably shut him down.

pretty much my thoughts.  Throw Shane out there and see what happens.  But do we have a backup for Shane?  Cause he'll take some hits, I'm sure.

Then let's hope Shane goes out there and kills it. If nothing more, put pressure on DG for the job. On the other side, Borges hasn't put DG in a position to succeed in many games. Just go out and kick ass.

QB competition going into next year can only help both players improve. I think it is better than having Gardner coast into next year as the starter. The only thing that can go bad is Morris going down with an injury so they are both hobbled going into the off season.

At this point, does anyone have faith in Al Borges ability to develop Shane Morris? The last two QBs under him have regressed. Who's to say Shane doesn't go out and suffer the same fate?
