Troopers seize nearly 450 grams of marijuana on Ohio Turnpike

LORAIN COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -
An Ohio man faces felony charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped his car and found nearly 450 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike Sunday afternoon.Troopers stopped a 2008 Dodge Charger with Ohio registration for failing to display a front license plate violation on the Ohio Turnpike eastbound near milepost 142 in Lorain County at 2:34 p.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A probable cause search revealed three gallon-size bags containing approximately 447 grams of marijuana. The contraband has a street value of $4,470.
The driver, Jerald Bernard Robinson II, 21, of Canton, was incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail. He has been charged with drug possession, a fifth-degree felony, along with trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

447 grams is a little less than a pound.  He was probably hoping it would get him through the summer, so they should drop the trafficking charge and plea on possession.
 
Interesting the cops said they smelled burning MJ and not just the smell that comes from a pound of MJ.  I wonder why the distinction.  All this b/c he didn't have a front license plate.  Jeez.

ANN ARBOR -- Former Michigan receiver Jerald Robinson faces felony drug charges in Ohio after a traffic stop revealed he was transporting 447 grams of marijuana, according to the Lorain County Sheriff's Department.Robinson, who left the Wolverines in December, was pulled over just west of Cleveland on Sunday for a front license plate violation, according to Toledo News Now. Troopers detected a marijuana odor in the 2008 Dodge Charger, and a search revealed three gallon-sized bags containing 447 grams of the drug
