I am too. Way too much money for a coach who has NO NFL experience...

And he's looking at hiring Jim Herman for his dc?

Yep. Just another cheat getting the hell out do Dodge City before Wyatt Erp comes to town. He gets to cash in on his millions while the program he leaves behind gets to suffer for his wrongdoings. Something needs to change in this equation...

Depends on who he's able to get at QB and who he hires as the DC. That roster is loaded with talent that by and large fit what he wants to do. McCoy and Bryce Brown are two of the fastest backs in football, DeSean Jackson and Macklin are two of the fastest WRs, Brent Celek at TE, they already have a lean OL.

Very interested to see how this all works out. Could open the floodgates for college guys. Multiple teams reached out to Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M according to reports so we're already on the edge.

Depends on...

Of course it depends on a lot of factors, but that's not fun, so put away your slide rule and protractor and pick over or under.

Over. Only because of the ownership in Philly is better than Cleveland or Washington (Butch Davis & Ball Coach). Chip is more than capable.

He won't get fired but may go back to college on his own. I'll take the over though.

I'll take the over.

As MichFan said, their roster is littered with talent that either gave up last year or got hurt. If they can upgrade their OL and solve their mental mistakes they will be preseason favorite to win the NFC East.

You guys are probably right.  I am just hoping for a Spurrier-like crash-and-burn NFL experience for Chipper.

I could see him pulling a Saban and go running back to college after a couple of years. He's not known for dealing real well with the media and Philly's media is one of the worst to deal with. If he stumbles early, he's not going to like how he'll be treated by the Philly media...

Good point Matty, I forgot how bad the media AND the fans are up there....The fanbase is one of the worst in the NFL imo.

2 years.  And forget about "potential".  I don't care who they have, without a QB you don't win in the NFL and I'm not sure how their QB situation gets better in 2 years.  15th in total offense, 15th in total defense (both worse than the Lions.  Think about it) and a ton of penalties.  Throw in the fact that he has to play Washington, NYG, and Dallas 6 times a year and yeah, good luck.  That's assuming the fans of Philly don't leave a pipe bomb in his mailbox when he starts out 1-4 next year.

was still nice to watch the Deadskins look stupid in the first half....Kinda reminded me of that sugar bowl (I believe) with WV vs OK, and WV just ran wild on them. Both teams looked overwhelmed in the first half.

Those crappy Redskins won the NFC East a year ago,

Also note that I included "so far." No one gets crowned in week 1 but the Eagles offense certainly looks pretty damn effective, and that's without Jeremy Macklin.

they also got held in check a little in the second half.......I'll be more interested to see how they play going forward now that teams have some tape on them

Glad I have Shady McCoy on most of my fantasy team...people though I was crazy for drafting him #2 overall, also Vick was an absolute steal in the 18th round of the draft.

I understand the 'Skins won the division last year, that's why I said crappy Defense - which they are. As Wolvy said, once the League has tape on them, they won't light it up like last night's first half.

Teams have tape on the 49ers, Pats, and Redskins. Hasn't made stopping them any easier. There were only 2 teams that scored over 30ppg last year, Kelly doesn't have to repeat last nights performance to be successful offensively. Most NFL teams score between 20 and 27ppg.

You can't beat math, which the Eagles are essentially playing teams with. They have some of the fastest and most talented skill guys in the league, won't expect them to start scoring 14ppg

They'll need to score a lot because I was not impressed with their defense.  They benefited from an obvious rusty and tentative RGIII last night.  They were essentially blitzing every down.  They won't be able to do that every week either.

on the whole, though, I was pretty impressed with NFL players buying into the system

It's a quarterback league-you can't win without a good one.  Is Vick that guy?  Me thinks not.  Kelly can run whatever pace he wants but the whole thing rides on Vick.  They definitely came back down to earth in the 2nd half.

Agreed.  Kelly isn't going to win based on his system alone.  Michael Vick is just not a good qb and he is also a qb who can't stay healthy.

No one wins based on their system alone. If Kelly had taken 98% of the jobs in the NFL none of this would be possible. The Eagles are the perfect fit offensively for him and Vick is just about the perfect QB for what he wants to do. It's not like the Eagles don't have talent, Vick was a legit MVP candidate what 2 years ago? Staying healthy will be an issue with Vick as it always is.

This. The NFL is HUGE on analyzing film. Give the DC's some time. They will figure it out.

I think they have a ton of Oregon film they can analyze...not to mention the zone read is becoming a staple of the NFL as of late so there are plenty of tapes on the 'Skins, Panthers, Niners, and a few other teams that currently run it...though not as often.

I figure anything that can add some excitement and interest to the NFL can't be bad.  The NFL game is so slow it's unwatchable for me and I don't know the last year I actually watched a full game outside of the playoffs or SB.  So hey, I hope Kelly brings some energy and something new to the game.  And we love to say that "DC's will catch up" when the fact is, they still can't stop a QB who can throw.  The yardstick only 10 years ago was 300 yards.  Now it's 400 yards to even get a nod on Sports Center so it sounds like the DC's have some work to do.
