"Alex Anzalone from Reading (Pa.) has twenty offers at the moment and is one of the most highly coveted players in Pennsylvania this year. Alex said that the 'quality of academics and their big-time football tradition' is really appealing to him. Anzalone plans to visit both Notre Dame and Michigan the weekend of March 23rd, unofficially. Alex also said that Michigan is recruiting him at the SAM position." - Davon Johnson

One of the most impressive offer sheets I've ever seen for a kid who isn't a consensus 5-star recruit. Was supposed to visit this weekend, and now reports are saying that he won't make it because we're "full at linebacker".

Last time I checked, we only have 1 LB committed to 2013 class...that cannot be the only one we take. With that said, there is no reason not to bring him in.

I understand that but it shouldn't stop us from bringing in players because it's only March and signing day isn't for another 11 months.

I just don't think it hurts to keep your options open so we don't miss out on targets at the deadline like we did this year.

Scottsdale is referring to bringing in players for visits still. He's saying don't stop recruiting because you have "verbal" commitments. He's not saying we should sign a bunch of kids regardless of whether we have the spots or not.

So we have verbal commitments and are telling kids that we're only taking x amount of players at a position only to continue flirting with prospects? Again, we don't want to be Alabama. We're telling these kids not to visit other schools all while promising them a spot at positions that have a cap.

I agree, if Hoke's no visit policy is going to work, he's going to have to kind of practice what he preaches and not continue to heavily court guys at positions where we've told kids we're filled up. Why should they be "faithful" is Hoke isn't? I know it's kind of a dangerous game, but the early returns seem to show it's worked well so far. Possibly a refreshing realness to the kids that they don't get very often in today's recruiting.

Telling a kid not to visit us because we are full at his position is no longer heavily courting him.

So are you saying that we should or shouldn't have additional players visiting? Call me crazy but two seconds ago it seemed like you were saying we should still "bring players in" by backing Scottsdale's statement.

I don't think we should be bringing kids in to visit still, hence the coaches backing off on Anzalone. However, to stop recruiting them all together would be completely asinine. The coaches need to stay in contact with these kids so we don't get left out in the cold if one of our verbals backs off down the line. Advising players to wait to visit, or telling them that we are currently full at the position (like we did with Anzalone) is how we should be approaching it right now, IMO.

I agree with at least keeping some contact with kids just in case we do lose a verbal. That would be devastating.

So sounds like we basically all agree. Yeah, gotta keep some kind of contact, but need to walk the fine line so you don't seem hypocritical in telling the commits they can't visit other places.

I`d let them visit and keep recruiting, just at a MUCH slower rate. You never know what may happen. Personally I`d be slowing playing the hell out of any LB not named Levenberry.

Thing is we're not actually full at the LB position. Only have 1 LB commit and am simply holding out for a super. Saying otherwise would be lying, especially when we've told others that we're taking 2 LBs.

Its a delicate dance that we have to do.

This has nothing to do with how crazy some Buckeye fans are. This is an anomaly and is unfortunate to say the least.

We may hate Buckeye nation with a passion, but it pains me to see Wolverine fans laughing at it all over the internet. It's creepy and even though he happens to be a Buckeye fan he's far from the norm, and he just ruined an opportunity for an extremely talented athlete.

His dad said this was the tipping point. I don't think anyone really knows what happens, so maybe we should reserve laughter for later, but to assume we shouldn't be laughing is to suggest you know something we don't.

Again, I hope this turns out to be a dad realizing that Urb's running a corrupt, dysfunctional program. That would make me laugh.

"You don't want your son to go to a place where there's a potential issue (like this)," Sal Anzalone said. "You expect the (football) staff to have some sort of control on how things are handled with recruits when they visit. This is ridiculous.

"I was concerned with what recruits do, and with them being allowed to visit these kind of places where it puts kids at risk. That's the issue. You entrust people (at the school) to do the right thing."

I still laugh thinking about when I told the parents of an O$U recruit at a wedding last summer in Chicago that O$U and Tressel we're as dirty as they come and sh*t was coming down soon so to be careful. They thought I was absolutley crazy because of how impressed they were with the program. I wonder how those parents feel now about that mess of a program in Columbus....haha
