My prediction is 8-4. Losses all on the road MooU, NW, pOSU, and Rutgers.
Very possible, and the absolute worst thing that could happen to this program IMO. The Hoke sack-riders and DB could say Hoke improved--completely ignoring the soft schedule--and deserves another year, while those with actual expectations could say the team lost to its 2 biggest rivals AGAIN, and is only 1 win better than the program Hoke took over 4 years earlier, so essentially stasis is all he would've done.
Either improve markedly and keep moving up, or see the team quit AGAIN and let a new regime try to put the pieces together.
Moving on doesn't appear to be a viable option if the Wolverines plan on winning on the elite level any time soon.
Brian at MGoBlog says it clearly here:
How do we get away from here?
Many of you aren't going to like my answer to this. It is: hold on to what we have and hope like hell. Transitions are awful. Michigan has suffered through two consecutive botched ones that left the roster in a state of strip-mined mid-majordom for the better part of a decade. The next one will either be run by Dave Brandon or an unknown person who has just arrived. With nothing approximating a terrific idea out there after Texas snapped up Charlie Strong, with zero reasonable, available Michigan Man™ options out there, the move appears to be to sit tight and hope.
If the winged helmets are to indeed rise again, the clearest path appears to be behind Brady Hoke. Another shift in power will almost certainly include another unwanted step back.
This Team will go 10-2
L's @Rutgers: after a 5-0 start and the week before the highly anticipated PSU night game in a conference road game played at night. Perfect recipe for a trap game upset.
@Michigan State, Sparty will reap the benefits of consecutive home games. Michigan will end the losing streak in the Horseshoe this season and the Bucks will beat MSU, but the Wolverine's upset loss against Rutgers will cost them a spot in Indianopolis. The Selection Committee will put the 10-2 Wolverines in the Cotton Bowl.
Which will set the Maize and Blue up for a huge 2015
Those who stay...
