After officially losing running backLe’Veon Bell and tight end Dion Sims to the NFL draft two days ago, Michigan State’s taken an expected early hit to the defensive side of the ball as well.
While the school has yet to officially announce his departure, defensive linemanWilliam Gholston confirmed to 247Sports.com Friday that he has decided to eschew a final season with the Spartans and will instead ply his football wares at the NFL level.  Gholston said he informed head coach Mark Dantonio of his decision Friday.
“After thinking everything over and talking to coach Dantonio, I knew it in my heart leaving for the NFL was the best decision for me,” Gholston told the website. “I want to thank everyone who helped me get to this point in my career and everything the entire Michigan State has done for me.”
Despite his immense talent, there was one little reason that played a significant role in his decision.
“Every snap, every down and every step I take throughout life is for him,” Gholston said of his three-month-old son. “My son means everything to me because he is part of me in everything I do.”
The 6-7, 278-pound Gholston led the Spartans this season in sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (13).  The former five-star recruit is viewed by most draft analysts as a first- to second-round talent.

So next year instead of big 10 favorites the question with MSU will be whether they go to the motor city bowl or whether dantonio gets fired for going sub 500

Rats deserting the sinking ship is the way I see it.  It indicates to me these players don't have much confidence in MSU being better next year.

^ I've been giving my MSU buddies grief for weeks, asking them where the BCS celebration will be and how many tractors they'll have for the parade.

LOL!  The Lions should take a long hard look at Gholston.  He and Suh would be a perfect fit for each other...

While Gholston is ripping the helmet off, Suh can kick him in the nuts.  Pretty potent 1-2 punch.

Is it just me who thinks of Dantonio anytime the term 'strict, abusive, alcoholic step-father' is used?  Never smiles, totally joyless, bags under the eyes...he would've done a better job than DeNiro in This Boy's Life.

Why do I think that Gholston thinks eschew is something that an S where's on its feet?
