The highlight of the game was listening to Musburger and Herbstreit drooling over the McCarron's girlfriend, like a couple of high school guys.
See you in another life, brother.

I'm glad ND didn't join the Big Ten instead of Nebraska, the Big Ten gets enough black eyes in the Bowl season.

I just want to thank first the coaches who vote in the coaches poll and then thank the BCS selection committee for providing us another craptastic national championship game.  These games have gotten to the point that they are basically unwatchable.  Now I understand why most of my friends watch the NFL and only have moderate interest in college football.

Two words:  Al Borges...

And speaking of OC's, what in the hell was ND's OC thinking?  I thought ND was more of a running team?  Not to mention, the only Bama loss came to a team that had a dual threat QB.  Where was the read option from ND?  ND's OC crapped the bed in that game almost as bad as we've seen Big Al do several times here at Michigan...

Perhaps he didn't try it because he watched what Alabama did to Michigan and their running Quarterback. Manziel is a special athlete, Everett Golson is not. Even Denard couldn't break off big runs against Alabama. I believe his longest was less than 10 yards when the Tide took the Wolverines to the woodshed in September.

It pays to cheat, that's for sure.

Can we stop whining. The B1G needs to recruit bigger and faster athletes if we want to stop losing to the bigger and faster athletes in the SEC. Our conference is just 5 - 16 over the past five New Year's Day (not to mention 1-9 over the past 10 Rose Bowls)
Northwestern was the only B1G school to defeat a SEC school this season (and they did it twice, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State).
If this conference wants to get back to winning it all, it comes down to athletes and coaching. Ohio State and Michigan seem to have the right coaches, now they need to get the athletes to run with the best down south.

I thought Gholston played an alright game for as terrible as his oline was doing to protect him.  Bama defense just had a master plan.

It's been beat to death, but like everyone is saying, you give Saban 4 weeks to prepare for a team, you're going to be in for a long night.

You know what I think is the most amazing thing about Nick Saban? He is a master tactician. He knows Notre Dame prided itself on stopping the run with their vaunted front seven, so what did he do? He ran them over. Three possessions, three touchdowns with over 100 yards on the ground. He took them out emotionally after the first 15 minutes. He is a master of breaking his opponents' will down. He attacks physically and psychologically. Four national championships in the last 8 seasons as head coach.
Think about this, since 2008, Michigan has lost 29 games. How about Alabama in that same span? SEVEN!?! 58-7 with three national championships!
Saban is 8 - 1 in championship games (4-1 SECFCG, 4-0 BCSNCG)

I am not sure exactly what needs to happen to get there, but I seriously hope the Wolverines find a way to emulate his winning ways.

What exactly does this have to do with anything I said?

Webber took money. Bullock took money. Traylor and Taylor took money. And Michigan decided to crush its own basketball program for the better part of two decades as a result, and will never allow any of its coaches in any sport to ever stray toward any gray areas ever again. Whether some of our fans want to admit it or not, that places heavy restrictions on our ability to recruit. John Beilein has a MINISCULE pool of talent to recruit from compared to everybody else. Brady Hoke isn't able to recruit a bunch of the players that took the field for Alabama last night, or will sign with Alabama (or Georgia, or Florida, or Texas A&M, or LSU, or pretty much any program south of the Mason-Dixon).....or Ohio State.........next month.

If you subscribe to Al Davis's "Just Win Baby" mantra, you're cheering for the wrong athletic department, the wrong teams, and you're posting on the wrong forum.

I forget who said it, but I think it was someone on this forum: If your able to achieving 11 or more wins a year, every year, in this day and age, an investigation will be coming soon. Now I don't know how clean Texas is or was, but I know they had Vince Young during their few year run, but they seem like one of the only recent "clean" NC winners.

alteast I don't subscribe to a If someone else is winning they must be cheating mantra. Ever think that maybe the fact they put like 5 players in the first round that year vs texas got them these good recruits? 20k bribes<20 mil first round NFL contracts.  Bama knows how to find and pick talent. All these players they have arn't 5 star OMG talent. alot of there 4 star talent turn into the lacy's and richardsons and thats why there able to rebuild year after year. I didnt mean win baby win like cheat I mean't it like just win. Wins gets you more recruits and although I will agree bama occasionally have pushed the line. All these recent "scandals of championship teams have been kids recieving gifts without the school knowledge. they didn't go to X cause of a bribe. They went there and then someone decided to be generous to them and they took it and in most cases (all exept OSU) the school was 0% at fault.

And you seem to think that it's an either/or situation. Got it.

ever think maybe its just that they play better high school football down there then they did 20 years ago? you realize that bama's 2009 class with Richardson, lacy, and alot of there power line that there was a total of 3 kids that were not from "SEC recruit grounds" and by SEC country I mean 6-8 states basically "AL,NC,SC,MS,TEN,GA,LA and sometimes FL there recruiting in there own backyards. Kids just don't want to leave the south. 2010 they had 3 kids from texas the rest were SEC country. 2011 they have 6 but 3 were 3 star overlooked recruits/need fillers. The problem with the big 10 right now is that outside of Ohio and a few good recruits from mich where are these stars kids coming from for the big 10? we have to drag kids out of playing within 6 hour drives of family/friends to go across the country. I will always be a michigan fan and live and die by blue and gold (even if I am a diehard Bama fan too) and were going to be good soon up here. but You have to realistic Unless something changes big 10 teams are up against the 8 ball due to less good recruits coming out of the north. No conspiracy No cheating. Just Purely football has changed and the south is popping out the monster players that people need now.

I've said it a million times.  In today's game you cannot consistently challenge for NC's without cutting some corners and the proof is there.  USC, Ohio, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Oregon, etc.  Either caught red-handed, hounded by constant rumors of illegal activities,  or just now getting latched onto from the NCAA (Oregon).  It wouldn't surprise me if Alabama were next.  Not saying they will be, not at all.  But it would it really shock anyone?  Is this just sour grapes?  Yeah, some of it. Tough not to be jealous of a program like 'Bama right now.  Furthermore, the SEC doesn't need to cut corners to beat The Big Ten.  The SEC needs to cut corners to beat the SEC.  There's not a Big Ten team who would have gone .500 in that league this year.  Michigan can recruit with these teams on occassion but it'll never happen consistently.  It just won't.  The Big Ten has an image problem, it's cold as hell in the winter, and you actually have to fog a mirror at places like Michigan to get past the academic requirements.  That's 3 things the SEC will never have to deal with.  Still, I won't discount what Saban has done (and will do).  He's the top coach in the country and one of the top coaches in history.  We've had some great talent and never knew what to do with it.  That doesn't happen to Saban so you gotta give credit where credit is due.
