"Tiger Stadium opened on the same day as Fenway Park – April 20, 1912. It was 100 years ago this weekend. Ty Cobb scored the first run by stealing home. From that day until 1999, this very spot rumbled with din and greatness. Pretty much every legend that played in Fenway in the 20th century also played here. Lou Gehrig sat himself down for the first time in 2,130 games here, ending his incredible ironman streak. Babe Ruth hit his 700th home run here. Reggie Jackson hit one into the right field light tower here during the '71 All-Star game. The Tigers won World Series titles here in 1968 and again in 1984, with Kirk Gibson launching a late-inning home run off Goose Gossage that no Tigers fan alive to see it will ever forget. Fair to say this was the most exciting place in the history of Michigan."

I have some great memories of going to Tiger Stadium as a kid. I always made my Dad take me to a Twi-Night doubleheader. What I remember is going up those ramps that seem to take forever and then looking through the open aisles and seeing green! What a beautiful sight even though I can not stand the color green. (MSU). The hot dogs were the best in the world and I hated when the last out was made. When I take my annual trip to Michigan I always go to Michigan and Trumbell. I envision what my Dad did as a child, walking with his Grandfather along Grand River to the bus stop that would take him to the ballpark. Gee I miss it!!

I miss Tiger stadium too, umgoblue. Comerica is nice but....... my heros don't play there. The stadium will live in my memories till I leave this place.

It's ignored because it no longer exists. Fenway park is still played in.

Oh and the most exciting place in Michigan is definitely the Big House.
