Granted this was something written before the BW3 Bowl, but still a funny read.

Okay...this guy needs to settle down just a little bit. Lol

Simply put, Borges was not a good fit in AA...not to say he sucks as an OC (his history shows otherwise), but he was not a good fit at Mich.

The only part of this article I agree with is:

"Hoke and Michigan have to decide who they are too. Do they want to develop a program that has a wide receiver at quarterback, or do they want to run an Alabama-type, pro-style offense that lines up and simply beats you. Until the Wolverines find that identity, there isn't any offensive coach who will be successful there."

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

Haha....offensive genius??? Who the F**k wrote this article, his wife? Lmao......

Please Phil, u must write a retort for that story!!!

He's only had 2 full recruiting seasons.....and stll didn't recruit a capable qb? Is that his excuse? Why didn't he demand getting qbs? Pretty important position especially for an OC. LOL We all complained they missed a qb the past 2 seasons. There are plenty of young qbs being successful lately around the NCAA.....but of course those coaches aren't genius's.

They recruited Bellomy and Morris.  2012 was the only year they whiffed on a qb.  I actually agree with SOME of the article.  AB never had the pieces to run his system here.  I didn't agree with the playcalling, but I'm willing to bet there is no fan in the country that agrees 100%, or even 80% with the offensive playcalling of their team.  Wether Al was the victim of circumstance or not, I think we made a huge upgrade in Nuss, and I'm excited about the future.  This team still lacks talent in it's upper classmen, but we're another year along, and I'm still predicting a solid roster top to bottom, with solid results, by 2015.    Sorry, I still don't think 2014 is our year, no matter the coach, being that we're still in the early stages of overhauling our O line.

I'm sorry, but I can't go along with this thinking anymore. How many more years are we going to say *next year*? Hoke will be in his 4th year and we will have 4th year OLmen like Miller and Bryant (#19 OL recruit) on the roster. They need to develop and contribute. We will have 3rd year OLmen on the team like Kalis (5-star OL), Magnuson (#6 OT recruit), Braden (#38 OL recruit) and Bars (#32 OL recruit). They need to develop and contribute. We will have 2nd year OLmen on the team like Bosch (#3 OG recruit), Dawson (#2 OG recruit), Kugler (#1 C recruit), Fox, (#6 OL recruit), LTT (#9 OT recruit) and Samuelson (#17 OT recruit). They need to develop and contribute. That is a sh*tload of talent on the roster and it's time for them to play. Kalis and Magnuson and Bosch got the most experience and I expect all 3 of them to start next season. The rest should be fighting and clawing to win a starting job and the competition should be very high. Another year in the S&C program will help these guys get stronger but it's time to sh*t or get off the pot. We can't be waiting 3 and 4 years for OLmen to be ready to play when other teams across the country are playing 1st and 2nd year players. Kids come into school more college ready than ever before with all year round football and camps, etc so the learning curve is not as high has it was 10+ years ago.

I tweeted that this article made me throw up  I'm not sure if this guy was paying attention during Al's tenure in A2.

Just reading through the article makes me wish I never opened it. Uninformed and not even close on most of his facts. Someone sounds butt hurt.

But, before I break it down, let me just say that if Michigan fires Borges, Brady Hoke and the Wolverines can look to go from contender to mediocre in a hurry.

This is pretty much where I stopped reading.  And this broken record nonsense of "he didn't have the pieces he needed to run his offense" is mind numbing.  ANYBODY can coach when they have all the "pieces" they need.  That's not coaching!  That's managing.  The credit this guy gets (and takes) for Cade McNown is laughable.  He actually regressed his senior year under Borges-threw twice as many picks, lower QB rating-but gee, where have we seen this before?  Besides, when you are the leader of the offense your responsibility doesn't start and stop at QB.  There are 10 other guys on that field that require coaching too.  With all this being said, let's not kid ourselves.  Hoke had to offer somebody up on a stick or get whacked himself so Big Al was an obvious choice.  But the fact is, there's no possible way we can get worse.  No way.  At the end of the day Borges didn't get it done and the proof is indisputable when you consider that players and results actually got worse as we went along.

This is spot on, the biggest issue is Michigan got worse until Big Al decided he needed to win OSU game to save his Job.  Their are two types of OC, ones who adapted to what the D is doing and adjust, and the bully type who does what he wants to do.

Al is a bully, he wants to run his game plan no matter what, even if it is failing, he's keep at it.  That's what he needs "all the pieces", he cannot adjust his game plan.

Why do assclown Al Borges apologists like the writer of that joke of an article cite only the highlights of AB while ignoring the numerous lowlights??? He's praised for Auburn's offense he inherited with Campbell at QB and Williams and Brown at RB, yet the swift offensive decline at Auburn after those 3 left for the NFL which led to AB losing his job is overlooked??? Same is done at Michigan. He's praised for what happened in 2011, yet excuses are then made for the offensive decline we've seen the last two years??? He's supposedly a developer of QB's, yet Cade McKnown is his only QB he's coached to finish his career over 60% in completion percentage?

Sorry, but the numbers tell me AB is one of the most over rated OC's out there and the fact that we aren't seeing teams busting down his door to hire him sort of confirms my opinion...

No doubt that line play is VERY important…it basically all starts there. At that same note, teams all over the country play with youth on their line and can somehow figure it out. Borges was the OC, meaning he was in charge of the OL coach and how that position was managed. That, among other areas, were piss poor under his supervision. All that said, with new blood at OC…10 wins is possible.

Nuss, from all the info we’ve gathered, is a very good QB coach. I feel very strongly that he will hold both Gardner and Morris accountable and allow them to compete, making them both better. He can restore Gardner’s confidence. He sees a kid in Gardner that threw for 3,000 yards and 25 TD’s, at better than a 60% completion clip last year, with an OL that couldn’t block in pop warner. And he’s probably licking his chops right now from just 1 game film of Morris and what he can turn that guy into. I feel the individual skill development of both of those guys will explode…a major upgrade from the baby step Borges took them thru…

I’ve now said this for almost 6 months…but my feeling is that Lewan and Schofield did us no favors last year on the OL. Good to great individual talents, but they never once showed signs of wanting to bring a unit of 5 guys together and stay together thru thick and thin, the good and bad. We have a very rare opportunity here with how young we are on the OL to have a fierce spring competition. We have a bunch of 4 and 5 star large human beings on campus. By the end of spring, Nuss needs to pick 5 guys and roll with them…allow them to build a chemistry as 1 unit. Don’t replace a guy at the 1st sign of trouble. Allow them to fight thru it. Injuries obviously play a large role as they can occur, but pick 5 dudes and just GO. You see it time and time again in college football (and the pros)…the most productive OL’s are the units that have been together for an extended period of time and have ‘X’ amount of starts together. Borges kept looking for the 5 best individuals instead of the best unit of 5 guys…Nuss has seen NFL OL’s and great ones at Bama, I don’t think he’ll make that mistake.

Derrick Green and De’veon Smith can become Nuss’s poor version of Lacy and Yeldon…get both of those guys to be your horses and make room for both of them to be featured backs. Create a healthy competition and similar to the OL, allow them to almost grow into 1 unit. With that stud RB in the 2015 class, we will have a nice opportunity to get some 1,000 yard rushing season out of some guys.

And finally, from what I’ve read so far…this Nuss character brings a healthy amount of energy to the table…a very hands-on guy with personality, developing good relationships with his players. Does anyone ever remember a player talking about how much they enjoyed being around Borges? They probably respected him, but we never heard any inkling of the players having a personal connection with him. In college football, kids need to have fun (and we can probably count on 1 hand how many times under Borges the offense actually looked like it was having fun) and you want these kids to run thru a wall for you…then in return, prove that you’ll do the same for them. Nuss has an opportunity to provide this spark from the second he walks into his 1st meeting, practice, film session etc…

Should I keep going…? haha
