...is that U-M is in the market for a RB coach.

Time to bring Wheatley home, IMO.

We've suspected that once his son was done playing that Jackson would retire. He's been a great coach and recruiter for many years.

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

I heard this a while back. He would be a good hire and a great recruiter in the local area.

Jackson has been a major positive for Michigan Football for many years.  If he is to retire, Wheatley sounds like the right hire.

Wheatley is the obvious choice though step down to college position usually doesn't happen voluntarily. Wheatley has a son that is a major recruit so that may be an alluring situation. I believe Wheatley interviewed for the EMU job so obviously he has goals outside of position coach.

Nussmeier may have someone in mind though. I'd prefer he worried about upgrading the O-line coaching myself.

As I said in another post, new oline coach is a jsj guarantee.

I think coach Nuss should make that determination. You don't bring a guy in that's worked for Saban and Sarkisian, QB's like Locker, McCarron and Bulger, give him a presser, etc.. just to go hire another former Michigan player to coach here. Given the backs he's coached I hope he can hand pick Jackson's successor.

sam webb saying Jackson retirement is unsubstantiated.  No more changes coming according to him.

Jackson hasn't produced a meaningful back since 2007. I hope this doesn't end up like Robinson/Shafer handcuffed to the likes of Tony Gibson. OL coaching, running back coaching, etc.. is atrocious and has been for a long time.

No one has the stones to dump Jackson, Rich Rod included. He continues to coach based on reputation and legacy. Retiring on his own terms is the only way he's not on the Michigan sideline.

A true shame.

I don't know if one guy can change a system of suckage. It's no different than Rodriguez and his defensive staff. I think both Jackson and Funk need to go. But that's just me. LB'ers coach Smith should go too.

Dude, ever since the board turned on Mallory, I have been tryna remember the name of the waste of space coaching the DBs during the RR years. Thanks for saving the 10th seconds on Google it would've taken to figure it out.

I've heard a lot of the problems with the O-line came down to Funk being a zone blocking specialist and Borges wanting to run pull blocking all the time.

Maybe with Nuss also believing in the zone block, the o-line will improve

Mike Hart being right down Washtenaw, you have to think he's just waiting for that job to open up.  I say if Wheatley doesn't want to come, give Mike Hart a chance, he's been coaching for a few years now and wants back in at Michigan.  Hell, I'm willing to bet he'd walk there.
