Quarterback Rob Bolden will seek a transfer from Penn State, his father told multiple media outlets Sunday.

Robert Bolden Sr. told the website Lions247.com that his son has informed the Nittany Lions coaches of his intentions.

"They're not looking for him to leave, they don't want him to leave, but he no longer wants to play at Penn State," Bolden Sr. said. "He's not happy at Penn State currently. If it was up to me, he definitely [would leave], without a doubt. He's definitely made it known that he does not want to be there anymore."

Not surprising after he lost his job,  but he's pulling the trigger a little earl I think.  He could easily win the job back in the spring and fall.  Apparently, patience is not a virtue with you 19 year old kids these days.

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

This is just rediculous if you ask me?!  What ever happened to the saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going"?  Nowadays it seems the saying is more like, "When the going gets tough, get going to another school"???

What ever happened to actually EARNING your job???  Bolden didn't exactly do anything to prevent him from losing his job this season.  And instead of dedicating himself to working his ass off this off-season to EARN his job back, he's just going to take the easy way out and transfer because he's no longer happy at PSU???  What a freaking puss!

Denard should be the example to look at!  He DID work his ass off last off-season and he EARNED the starting job over the incumbent starter in Forcier.  Now we will get to see if Forcier will end up taking the easy way out or if Robinson will end up leaving with RR which may make Forcier a bit more open to staying...

Stuff like this drives me nuts. I go to the gym with one of the guys I graduated with and he currently plays football for Villanova. He hasn't started in 3 years being at Nova. He'll be a RS JR going into next season.

Anyways, he's been working out with his dad every day and he keeps yelling at him, "You wanna be the starting safety, you better suck it up." "You want it, you gotta get it."

I know you can't blame everything on parenting, but when his dad is openly saying, "If it was up to me, he would leave" then obviously there's no words of motivation from his father.

Kids these days just have no motivation and just want the job handed to them.

Out of all the football players I graduated with (and this is from an 11-1 D-2 team in Ohio), only 2 are playing football now.

2 went to Mount Union (one quit in he off season, and the other quit after a few practices the next year because he wanted to be the starter over a SR even though he was a RS FR and was practically guaranteed to start the following year).

1 went to Akron and quit after a year

A few went to the military instead of play football

1 went to Notre Dame in Cleveland and quit instantly

The two playing are at Nova and Duequesne (sp). The one playing at Duequesne complained on facebook about how football sucked and he should be starting. I'm not sure how the coach allowed it and kept him on the team.

I think the psu situation is more a factor of bad parenting, than th kids. A strong parent says "shut up and go back and win that damn job" And I think he would. But, unfortuantely, right or wrong, many parents of black athletes see their kids as a walking, talking lottery ticket out of the ghetto (to use an old phrase). So I guess his dad is protecting his investment.

He's probably bitter after seeing what Cam Newton's father raked in for his son to play football at Auburn...  alegedly.

Such in the state of college football, no one wants to wait their turn or actually earn their spot.

Do these kids know its D1 football?  They will be competing for a starting job each and every week?  Sheesh!!  How stupid are these guys getting?  Look at the kids PSU has recruited for the qb position the last several years.  You have Newsome, Paul Jones Bolden and I forget the other one plus you have a walk on or two here and there.  Those are some pretty high profile kids battling for the same spot.  So if your gonna sign to play for a school thats pretty deep at that position already.  Then you better be willing to compete constantly or sign with someone else.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State quarterback Rob Bolden's father says coach Joe Paterno has denied his son's request to transfer.

Robert Bolden Sr. said he wasn't expecting Paterno to turn down the quarterback in a meeting Tuesday. It's unclear what Bolden will do next, with spring semester classes starting Monday.

"I'm pretty upset," Bolden told the Altoona Mirror Tuesday. "I didn't understand why he would want me to stay if I didn't want to be there. I was looking to get out and get a release, but he thinks otherwise."

Transfer request DENIED.

It's not just on the football field.  My father-in-law is a college professor at one of the satellite Wisconsin campus and one of my best friends is a professor at a school in upstate NY.  They noticed more and more kids wanting to do less work but receive higher marks for their work because "that's what they were able to do in high school."

What a ride for Bolden. I remember people concerned about him going elsewhere despite the fact that we already had Gardner on board.
