It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Despite his affinity for using multiple TE sets, TEs weren't a big part of the passing game when Nuss was at Alabama. OJ Howard, who is about as talented a pass catching TE as you're going find only had 14 catches last year, less than Jake had as the 2nd TE.

I not yet convinced that the Gronk/Hernandez Patriots type offense is where Nuss is taking us. To date his passing game has been more WR centric.

Aside from Howard, did he ever have an NFL level TE? Easy to be WR centric with guys like Cooper, Norwood and Kenny Bell it's easy to see why he threw to them more often.

OJ wasn't example enough???? LOL!

It's almost a chicken and egg thing. Did he not have good TEs prospects, or did not developing TEs lead to limited prospects? Oklahoma always has an embarrassment of riches at WR, they still find ways to produce TEs, same goes for Georgia and South Carolina. 14 receptions is a joke, that could be single game numbers for a great TE.

What my point is that when you have three NFL receivers to one NFL tight end, the bulk of the catches are going to lean toward the three. Esp when you're not throwing the ball on every down.

Great news...though, don't see the need to rush him back & then suffer a recurrence.

As for the TE position, I'd like to think that Nuss will find a way to integrate a talent like Jake Butt into his offensive gameplan, somehow.

His injury occurred before Jake Ryan's did last year, IIRC, and Ryan was back week 6. He should be fine by Big Ten play.

Read this the other day…not sure what to make of how Nuss will run our offense. All I really know of him is his time with Bama, and that’s just because Bama was all over national TV. I don’t have any idea what type of offense he won at in Washington, etc…

I don’t imagine we’ll be a Gronk/Hernandez type offense either…although I’d like to see him use all our WR’s and TE’s creatively and move the ball.

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

I`d be willing to bet that OJ Howard goes on to have a better career than any of Alabama's WRs, who to be honestly I haven't been that impressed with since Julio Jones.

I`d bank on a monster year for Howard under Kiffin.

I would agree about pro career. Remember we're talking about him during his freshman year. Not what he'll do this year or next. Sophomore Amari Cooper>Freshman OJ Howard.

I don't know that we can nail down where Nuss belongs scheme wise other than to just call it multiple. He's coached in it all spread with John L. Smith, NFL, back to spread with Fresno State and Washington, then pro-style/power at Bama. He was doing 4 and 5 WR read option with Jack Locker at Washington then turned around and played with TEs and FBs at Alabama.

I will say this, Michigan desperately needs an identity on offense. So we`ll I`m glad that Nuss has experience with a variety of schemes and styles, we BADLY need to be grounded. An offense with no identifiable base is really not a good way to do business. People on the outside should be able to look at Michigan and say we're about A,B, and C on offense and do X, Y, and Z really well. I never felt that about our offense the last 3 years, we were all over the map.

Preach, preacher! I really don't give a rats ass if we're a 3 tight end and a fullback I-form, a Texas Tech throw the ball 70 times a game, or a somewhere in between team. But for the love of God, be something.

You know me…it will probably be somewhere in the 2nd quarter of the Appy St. game when I’m already screaming at Nuss. Lol
