I recently had a chance to take photos of Michigan Stadium at night.  The first night game at Michigan Stadium next season is going to be awesome!

I'm assuming this will become a yearly tradition. Is it safe to say Gameday will most likely be in AA next year for the night game?

They've played night games here before, haven't they???? I could swear I've seen games at night on TV in Michigan Stadium...or perhaps they were later in the year and ended at night?

no buckeye, there never has been a night game.  They have had to roll out portable lights for games that ended late, like the 3 ot MSU game, but those lights were actually pretty lousy, they seemed a little dim compared to stadiums that had actual permanent lights.

TK23BLUE, I heard the same thing, but I don't know what the rush would be, since our first night game isn't scheduled until next year.  Would be sweet if they surprised us with an early one this year though!

Yea, that's what I thought. I think I remember the 2002 PSU game ending at night as well. That was Michigan's 1st overtime win and marked 5 in a row against PSU. I was at that game with some customers of mine.

I read this just this morning, but it doesn't have a completion date:

"Shine a light
Rich Rodriguez said Tuesday he expects permanent night lights to be installed at Michigan Stadium in time for the Big Chill at the Big House hockey game on Dec. 11.
On Thursday, the Michigan athletic department will formally ask the university’s Board of Regents for approval for the lights, which are expected to cost $1.8 million.
The Wolverines have already scheduled their first night game in school history for Sept. 10, 2011 against Notre Dame."

I was kind of surprised they didn't install permanent lights during the renovations.

I am glad to hear they are, more than likely, going to go ahead and have permanent lighting installed though.  Heck, even DIII College of Wooster here in my hometown has a lighted field with permanent lights...

GO BLUE!!!

Johnny 3435 nailed it with the same information that I found. They will be installed this fall, by early December, but could be sooner, as the late season games, if it's cloudy or rainy, can be quite dark by the end of the game. Bo is probably rotating in his grave, but I think that this is a good move.

It's going to make it tough for us out-of-towners who cannot make it home after a game when it's at night, but if it's only once a season, I can suck it up.

When will tickets go on sale for the game? I want to get good seats near the 50. I'd like to plan as far ahead in advance as I can since I'll need to take leave and I'll be traveling much much further than all of you to attend the very first night game in the history of the Big House.  According to Google Maps, it's 4,231 miles.

It's going to be EPIC!!!  GO BLUE!!!

As much as I would love to be optimistic about public ticket sales for this game.... I am not sure they will ever go on sale and if they do they won't be around very long.  This game will play out much like the Michigan State and Ohio State tickets do and sadly the majority of those games never make it to the mgoblue ticket site

I wonder what style of lighting they are looking into, cause there is potential for sound amplication to go along with looking good. Like angle the towers and rows of lights down at an angle towards the field. Just sayin, anything can help. Plus i wonder what it will look like anyways, like 2 towers on each side of the stadium, or one long row on each edge of the new suite boxes, etc etc. Anxious to see the design. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
