I just cant imagine a Michigan game without a band playing hail to the victors, what a joke we are. Leaders and the best, huh? lol

FYI the band doesn't go to all road games.

There are generally one or two road games per year that the band doesn't make the trip to.

Uh, stop. Reverse that.

Haha, my bad. I guess I didn't pay much attention last year since we only had 4 road games and I know they were at MSU.

I always assumed that the band went to every game. I was surprised when I starting going to more away games to learn otherwise.

The game that sticks in my craw was the 1997 Penn State game. Penn State "didn't have room" to accommodate our band which was a total crock of BS. It was one of the first road games I ever went to and enjoyed seeing the Nittany Lions get slapped silly.

I just couldn't imagine the band would not be at a huge game early in the season.

Has PSU since found a way to 'make room' for our band?  I know their band comes to every game at the Big House.

Here's a question.  Seeing as how the band makes 2 roadies per season, will this game in Dallas count as one of the two roadies?  Because there are some big roadies available this season at ND, at Nebraska and at Ohio.

And in 2013, we really only have one road game that would warrant sending the band and that is just up the road to EL when we play Sparty.  I guess the roadie to PSU could qualify as well if they allow the band to come???

My guess would be that it won't count since it's being paid for by outside donors.  When I was in the band we didn't travel to two away games per season, we basically had travel years every other year (MSU wasn't considered a major travel event).  During those years we would go to places like Ohio State, Northwestern, and Notre Dame.  I remember there being a lot of problems with traveling to Penn State, mainly because of the time, distance, and cost involved, so we never went there during my years (95-98).  Same thing with Illinois.  However, in the 4 years after I graduated they did end up going to both PSU and Illinois.

In recent years, the band has only travelled to the MSU, Ohio, and ND road games. Additionally, they go to bowl games. Years ago, they would make an appearance at some other away venues, but for the last 15 years or so, see the first lines of this message.

The road games we went on were those that we could travel to by bus.  When we went to Columbus, Chicago or South Bend we would stop at a town along the way and stay with host families at some local high school.  It definitely was not airfare and hotels like would be required for a trip to Texas.

MMB95 - we marched together.  I was in the drumline 93-96.

In '95 we played at a Monday night football game at the Silver Dome (the Lions won...but we had to leave before the game ended).  And when we went to Northwestern in '96 we played at a Bears game.  They didn't like us much there!

I was a flag (and a rank leader my senior year...got to lead the line out of the tunnel!). :)
