Manti Te'o denied being part of a hoax involving a relationship with a person online whom he considered his girlfriend, during an interview with ESPN's Jeremy Schaap on Friday night, but did say he "tailored" his stories so people would think he "met her before she passed away."
"No. Never," Te'o said during the 2½-hour interview. "I wasn't faking it. I wasn't part of this."
Te'o said he didn't know for sure that "Lennay Kekua" never existed until Wednesday, when Ronaiah Tuiasosopo called Te'o and admitted he was behind the hoax.
Te'o said he received a Twitter direct message from Tuiasosopo where Tuiasosopo said he was the perpetrator, along with one other man and a woman. Te'o then talked to Tuiasosopo on the phone Wednesday.
"Two guys and a girl are responsible for the whole thing," Te'o said. Asked who they are, he said: "I don't know. According to Ronaiah, Ronaiah's one."

I'm already over this story. The fact Te'o was to chicken sh1t to even have his interview FILMED is ridiculous. Everything that comes out of his mouth is rehearsed and coached, and if it was filmed, people would be able to break it down and look at his body language. whatever

The woman whose picture was used to create Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend has been identified, but the voice of the woman who had hours of late-night phone calls with the Notre Dame star linebacker has remained silent. Turns out that's because it reportedly was a man.
The lawyer for the man who has been identified as behind the hoax, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, told the New York Daily News that his client disguised his voice and assumed the identity of Lennay Kekua to try to develop a relationship with Te'o.
Milton Grimes said that Te'o "thought it was a female he was talking with. It was Ronaiah as Lennay."
There is absolutely no way he thought he was talking to a female every day and night for months when in fact he was talking to a man. My guess is he figured it out early on and saw the bump he got with the death of his grandmother and say f*ck it, lets keep this going and so he did. Tuiasosopo is considered a family friend so I'm betting there's a 7 figure payout from Te'o's signing bonus coming this summer. Go Blue!!

so he says to Couric "what would you have done." Just think how great the public would have accepted him if 2 days before the NC game he came out and said he was the victim in all this. Had he not strung the public out for a month lying through his teeth, he would have had so much sympathy it would be ridiculous.
