I got that impression from the original piece when the writer went into detail about Manti's relationship with Tuiasosopo.

Bill Hicks was my favorite comedian......ahhh man, my eyes lit up when I saw this picture, I knew exactly what it was!! The life rollercoaster is one of his greatest bits.

I try to watch that bit once a month to put things back into perspective.  Hicks was so far ahead of his time.

While not saying that Manti Te'o participated in or knew about the hoax that his girlfriend did not exist, a former teammate told ESPN's Bob Holtzman on Wednesday that players knew the woman wasn't really his girlfriend even though Te'o played that up as his tragic story was being told.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Not once but twice after discovering his supposed girlfriend of three years never even existed, Notre Dame All-American linebacker Manti Te’o perpetuated the heartbreaking story about her death.

An Associated Press review of news coverage found that the Heisman Trophy runner-up talked about his doomed love in a Web interview on Dec. 8 and again in a newspaper interview published Dec. 11. He and the university said Wednesday that he learned on Dec. 6 that it was all a hoax, that not only wasn’t she dead, she wasn’t real.

I think this is going to impact where he's drafted.

  1. I think he's a touch over-rated anyway. He doesn't look as good on tape as ESPN would like you to believe.
  2. He's going to get grilled about this during interviews with teams, and they'll have investigators dig into it to find out what really happened.
  3. He's either not too bright (not the best quality in a LB) or he's a liar.
Does a potentially risk 1st round money on a guy with these question marks? Maybe the Lions do  but I'm not sure anyone else does. Being drafted a little lower might even be in his best interest. I think he needs to lie low for a while. Maybe settle down find himself a real gf to keep him out of trouble

Based on public opinion polls and the loons I constantly see pushing for lifestyle restrictions............a lot of people.

You think so Phil? I dunno.  The NFL just wants guys that can blow things up and I don't think there's one team that would care about this.  Look at Ray Lewis or Lawrence Taylor.  Every team knew these two were headcases but that didn't change anything.  Maybe if he were a QB.  You kinda want your QB's head screwed on straight but a LB who can run, make plays, and blow up stuff?  The NFL isn't exactly a beacon of morality.  I dunno-I guess we'll see.

Ummmm, Notre Dame is a private Catholic school.  You think the powers that be would allow a homosexual on their campus, let alone on their football team?
See you in another life, brother.

Not only that but Te'o and his family are "devout" Mormons, many of whom don't exactly have the most tolerant views on such issues.

It's all about dollars and risk. I question whether he's 1st round talent anyways. I'm not saying he won't get drafted but I think this incident might help him slide out of the top of the 1st round.

On Thursday morning, Spirit Airlines posted an ad on its website proclaiming: "No hoax. These fares are really low," written in Notre Dame's blue and yellow just like its famous "Play Like A Champion Today" sign.

Late Thursday evening, an independent baseball team, the Florence (Ky.) Freedom, announced it would have "Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobblehead Day."

As part of the promotion in late May, the first 1,000 fans will get an empty bobblehead box, there will be a pretend kiss cam for fans to kiss their imaginary friends and there will be an imaginary food fight in the kids' area, as well as an air guitar contest.

Manti Te'o is telling friends ... he knew the truth about Lennay Kekua in early December ... but continued the lie for 20 days for the sake of his team.

Sources connected to Te'o say ... it's true what ND Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick said Wednesday night, that Manti realized he had been hoaxed on Dec. 6, when he got a phone call from "Lennay" ... months after he thought she was dead.

Did Manti Te’o Violate Notre Dame’s Stringent Code of Conduct By Lying About His Dead Girlfriend?

Regardless of exactly how and in what order things went down, it would appear that at least somewhere along the line Manti Te'o—and possibly his family—was complicit in the mendacity that surrounds this mess. Knowing that, an obvious question to anyone familiar with the eminently pious Notre Dame's code of student conduct, du Lac, is what Te'o's punishment should be for violating that code.
