"It's the 49er way," said Harbaugh, who is 34-11-1 with San Francisco. "It's the team, the team, the team. Everybody does a little, and it adds up to be a lot. Nobody above the team. Nobody more important. Nobody less important. Hundreds of people in this organization, and we all have a role and we all contribute to the best of our ability. And that's the team, the team, the team. We win as a team. That's how we do it."

Where have I heard this before...hmm...

If Harbaugh ends up at Texas I will cry and I will die a little inside as I crawl up into the fetal position and shake.

No way in hell he ends up at Texas so you're safe, unless you're referring to the Houston Texans.

He's a jerk - not even worth the discussion or getting all worked up about.

So loyalty only goes one way? We weren't there with an open hand during his time of need, why should we expect him to be any different?

Well congratulations, Michigan has a "nice guy" as a coach now.

I'm not even talking about right now.  He burned his bridge the minute he threw Bo under the bus after he died IMO.

Well, we have pretty much been enjoying 3-5 loss seasons for the last 20 years or so.  We should all be accustomed to it by now and stop all the bitching, its the norm not the exception.

LMAO - feel free to read and interpret whatever you'd like from my post - where is there a ringing endorsement of a "nice guy" like Hoke??  Personally, I want a coach who's a p$%ck, but that'll probably never happen at Michigan in my lifetime.
I would have loved Harbaugh but I'm not living in fantasy land and realize he's bigger than the Michigan job so he'll work wherever he wants.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, not hiring Harbaugh was a mistake of epic proportions but we are stuck with Hoke.

Harbaugh wanted Brandon to offer him the job, not out him through a comprehensive corporate interview. If your competition offered you a job for more money you would take it. If they wanted to put you through three interviews and a personality test, you would tell them to go pound sand.

Harbaugh thought Brandon would offer him the job and he would take it. Instead Brandon wanted to put him through an interview process. Harbaugh thought it was laughable and so did Miles.

I was pissed when they hired Hoke. 2 of the top 10 coaches in the nation are former Bo players and you can't offer them the f*ckin job. Instead you insult them with the attitude that your big time.

No way Brandon would bow to Harbaugh or Miles given his experiences at Bain capital/dominoes pizza. No way Harbaugh or Miles would let him be this involved in football decisions. He knew Hoke would be pleased as piss to have the job and do whatever Brandon wanted. We will be ok in 2 years but never a national power because of that decision.

If O$U would have done that to Meyer he would have said f*ck you. Instead they courted him.

Go Blue!!

Well if we play revisionist history, which gets back to my earlier post. We had the opportunity to hire Jim Harbaugh, who BADLY wanted the QB job in 2002. We went another direction (Jim's off the field antics were always the reason I heard for why he`d never end up back in A2). Now with his ambition he likely wouldn't have accepted being a position coach longterm but he at least would have been part of Lloyd's coaching tree and more likely to come back. Hell he likely would have ended up our OC and coach in waiting.

Hindsight is 20-20 though and it's not like Lefty was a terrible QB coach, and he never embarrassed us off the field.

Harbaugh's personality was too big for Carr and by hiring Lefty (who was a good QB coach), we won the battle but lost the war. Carr was too narrow sites instead of looking at the long term future of the program. By hiring Harbaugh at the time, we had our HC in waiting and that was not the case with the hire of Lefty.

Just wondering, a bit off topic.....but how did Scot get the nickname "lefty"? Yes, I assume he was a southpaw.......mill lions of people are lefties but not all wear that nametag. Just curious.

Also, why are we only focusing on Jim? Isn't John as big a catch, and if Hoke were to land another 7 win season next year, couldn't he still be a realistic candidate? (Unless Texas were to land him)

He was not a southpaw. His last name is Loeffler, hence Lefty,

IIRC, there was a lot of negativity toward Jim Harbaugh by Michigan posters here and other sites because of a comment about UM's academic requirements as compared to Stanford's. Some of you may have made some derogative comments about JH. I don't know but don't you think that entered into the equation for him not aggressively pursuing the UM job?
