Are we a better rushing team than we were 4 weeks, 8 weeks or vs. last year?
No, we are not a better rushing team. Losing Molk in the middle and really hurt the OL chemistry
Are we a better passing team than we were 4 or 8 weeks ago or vs last year.
We are not a better passing team this year or from the beginning of the year. No Stonum or Hemingway (or any deep threat) has really hurt our vertical passing game and teams are loading the box, covering the under routes and daring us to go deep, which we have not proven we can do.
Are we more explosive?
I don't think we were consistently explosive last year so this is probably a push for me (maybe a little less this year). We are hit and miss with explosiveness.
Are we more physical?
No, we are clearly less physical than last year, especially up front. Losing Molk, RVB, Martin, etc has hurt us and the young guys stepping in haven't thrown their weight around as well as last year (and last year I didn't think we were extremely physical either so this disappoints me, but I'm not surprised because my expectation was for us to be less physical)
Are we more efficient?
We are getting nothing out of the redzone when last year we dominated the redzone so we are definitely less efficient. However, I don't really care how we get the job done as long as we get it done. If we win 12-10 or 45-44, it's a win and I'll take it. I would however like to be more consistent and I think that won't happen this year because of the changing offenses.
What do we do better now than we did 4 weeks ago, or last year?
Our defense is better now than it was 4 weeks ago (not better than last year because we are not creating as many TO's), but I know where talking about offense and I can't think of anything.
With all that said, we are still in a good position to win our division if we take care of our business and Nebraska falters (they have proven it can happen).
Is everyone over-reacting right now? Yes, of course.
Has the season gone the way most of us thought (judging by wins and losses), I would say yes. Most people had us around 5-3 at this point, winning our next 3 and then it's a toss up with O$U to finish 9-3 or 8-4. That was the prediction for most fans.
Let's see how the remaining games turn out and judge this thing at the end of the season.
