Insanely Early 2014 Depth Chart Thursday, January 02, 2014 3:43 PM (permalink)

A lot of time between now and when the season starts but what do you expect our depth chart to look like next season?

Offense:

QB - Gardner, Morris, Speight
TB - Green, Smith, Hayes, Rawls, Johnson
FB - Kerridge, Houma
WR - Darboh, Harris (recruit), Ways, Dukes
WR - Chesson, York, Jones
TE - Funchess, Butt
LT - Magnuson, Samuelson
LG - Bosch, Bryant
C - Kugler, Glasgow, Miller
RG - Kalis, Bars
RT - Braden, LTT
K - Wile

Defense:

DE - Clark, Ojemudia, Taco
DT - Henry, Strobel
NT - Pipkins, Ash
DE - Beyer, Taco, Wormley
SAM - Ryan, McGray?
MIKE - Morgan, Bolden
WILL - Ross, Gedeon
CB - Countess, Lewis
CB - Peppers, Taylor
FS - Thomas, Clark
SS - Wilson, Hill
P - Wile, Allen

Who's better for LT, Magnuson or Braden?

Where does Peppers play on D? Does he play CB and if so, who doesn't start, Taylor or Countess? Or, does Peppers play Safety?

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

QB- DG, Shane, Bellomy, Speight,
RB- Green, Smith, Rawls
FB- Kerridge, Houma
Slot- Norfleet, Hayes, Jones, Canteen
WR- Funchess, Harris, Dukes, York
WR- Darboh, Chesson, Ways
TE- Butt, Williams, Hill, Bunting
LT-Braden, LTT
LG- Bosch, Bryant
C- Glasgow, Kugler, Bars, Miller
RG- Kalis, Dawson
RT- Mags, Fox, Samuelson

WDE- Clark, Ojemudia
SDE- Beyer, Taco, Strobel
3T- Henry, Wormley, Godin, Poggi
NT- Pipkins, Ash, Hurst, Mone
SAM- Ryan, McCray, Gant
MIKE- Morgan, Bolden
Will- Ross/Gedeon, RJS (I personally would move RJS to SAM)
CB- Countess, Lewis, Douglas
CB- Peppers, Taylor, Stribling
FS- Thomas, R. Dawson
SS- Wilson, Clark, Hill

K- Wile
P- Wile/Allen

If Peppers plays CB, I see Taylor moving to safety. If he plays safety then Wilson probably sits.

Hayes will be above Rawls on the depth chart....can't see 3 power backs in the top 3, Hayes adds a change of pace and is a home run threat.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see them move Funchess to WR as they started to do that this year but just not sure they will stick with it.

Magnuson needs to had 15-20 pounds and work on his feet to become the full time LT (taking on bull rushes and outside speed/pressure) but I see he and Braden as the 2 Tackles, just a matter of which side they pick.

Simply put, Peppers will play everywhere on D…CB, FS, LB…hell…rush him off the end sometimes…just make sure he’s on the field.

Go Blue!!

Hoke has already said that Justice Hayes' future with the program is at slot receiver. I personally would like to see what you are asking for, a back that can catch out of the backfield, but doesn't sound like that will happen.

We had 4 kids play in the UA game yesterday and overall, sounds like a pretty good week for the guys we had there...

DT Mone could be the the next Mike Martin, but with a little more size, which is nasty.

Peppers is Peppers...if healthy, he can play 9 different position starting in the fall.

QB Spleight could end up brig a nice surprise...I wasn't stoked about him at the start, but he could serve as a very a very capable back up to Morris.

And T Bushal-Beatty is who we thought he was....and we let him off the hook!! haha

Go Blue!!

Come on now Scottsdale, you know it takes linemen 4yrs to see the field. Can't be developed any quicker!

Signed,

Class of 2012 and 2013 starting linemen at Auburn, UCLA, and LSU

So, what you’re saying is that each time we get a kid on campus, his star rating immediate drops….like when you buy a new car and the second you pull off the lot it depreciates? Haha

I guess I may meant more of the 2013 "stats" from the 3 inner linemen. Prob gave up a zillion sacks and neg plays......now just subtract a 2 AA LT & RT senior + 2 fresh meat at the ends with this sh*t show we had in the middle......ahhh football math, gotta love it.
