The boos may rain down at Michigan Stadium but if early struggles lead to victories on the road later in the season versus Michigan State or Ohio State fans will forgive him.

When you're the coach at Michigan boos don't hurt you but repeated losses to Michigan State and Ohio State can be fatal.

I think the worst part about last year was that it never felt like we were getting better. We looked as bad in week 11 as we did in week 2.  There's going to be poor play from time to time, even if you're a championship level time. There's nothing worse than a lack of progress though.

It is especially frustrating when you look around and see progress going on elsewhere. Connon Cook and the Sparty offense was a trainwreck at the start of the season just like we were. By the end of the year Cook was an all conference performer and won several post season awards. That is the opposite of what we've had having to see watch units stagnant or in some cases regress or get exposed. There was a one game blip for the offense against O$U but outside of that one occasion there have been few cases where we've looked better at the end of the year vs. the beginning.
